the wind chill was almost enough to make odie want to retreat, her cheeks a ruddy pink color from being outside for far too long while the sun threatened to dip below the horizon line. but she hadn't been swimming in months, and as much as she wanted to hold out until she knew it was safe, her body was telling her otherwise. but odie wouldn't feel comfortable going in the water until her eyes landed on foster, and so she stayed planted on the shoreline, arms hugging her knees to her chest as she watched the waves grow closer and closer to her bare feet.

she'd been zoned out when the crunch of footsteps sounded behind her, and with a jump, odie looked back to find foster approaching. just as quickly as her panic had risen, it dissipated, her look of fright replaces with a smile as her shoulders relaxed. "hi bub," she spoke softly, both hands dropping to the ground so she could push herself to stand, ready to greet him. "thanks for meeting me."
