I love the idea of King Arthur having incredibly advanced and anachronistic knowledge of certain things and average dark ages knowledge about others. Because he was educated by Merlin. Camelot has incredibly good sanitation and disease prevention measures but King Arthur also thinks the sun revolves around the earth because that’s what Aristotle said and Merlin didn’t think it was worth unpacking.

Camelot being remembered as this bastion of excellence and plenty and its knights being renowned for their almost supernatural fighting abilities because Arthur had some idea of germ theory and sports medicine and nutrition so the court was thriving in comparison to the rest of Europe.

imo the question of "was Stratt justified in forcibly sending Grace on the Hail Mary" is irrelevant in that it's downstream of her actual inexcusable fuckup. How the fuck do you let both the primary and alternate science officer get blown up together. She never should have allowed both trained volunteers for any of the crew positions to be in the same vehicle at the same time, let alone on-site with experimental quantities of astrophage. The rest of her actions were pretty standard ends justify the means, someone has to make the hard choices kinds of atrocities, but that was a simple lack of obvious failsafes.

Ryland Grace and his popularity as a character feels like such an important step in repairing the cultural tsunami left by the long running trope of every genius character needing to be an insufferable asshole to everyone in a ten mile radios about it.

Conversely, Eva Stratt is doing wonders for repairing and inspiring a appreciation for commanding women with dubious moral convictions who are fully willing to bend laws for the greater good without hesitation.

And together they are doing brilliant things by not kissing or hooking up even once.
