Training Montage || Frank & Lily
[Text] Alfredâs a BAMF! And if we get to choose who we are, must I be Batgirl? As much as I disapprove of their antics, DC villains are sooooo much more interesting! Harley/Ivy over Wonder Woman/Batgirl any day!!!! Iâll be waiting!
Shifting her weight from left to right, Lily rolled back her shoulder. Against a pillar she watched ministry workers pile out for the day, some smiling like teenagers at the prospect of freedom, some simply tutting at her loitering. She saw hundreds of Witches and Wizards in gear of both muggle and magical. Anything goes seemed to be the dress code, anything formal that is. So it followed Lily about how out of place was. Her ginger hair was scraped back into a half upâd plait down her back, yoga pants and a vest top with the words âDonât Panic!â written in large friendly letters on the front.
She waited until frank strolled up towards her, noting the grim set of his jaw, how it softened with his friendly hello. âWell, letâs just say I am thoroughly showered.â Giving him a look to emphasise her point, she straightened. She loved looking people in the eyes, in there sheâd find the truth regardless of their voices or movements. Frankâs held a twinkling light, they so often did. To her, Frank Longbottom was the sunshine personified, always bright, always glowing. Lily knew that he could probably get the most emotionless serial killers to warm to him, that man radiated empathy like body heat.
She knew better than to truly think he was sunshine. To her truly, Frank was a star trapped in the body of a man. Bright light, captivating light. The brightest star in the sky, one who would always guide you home. He was a knight of unconventional methods, and Lily trusted him with her life. Now she needed to know how to keep it safe by herself.
âHow was yours? And where exactly are we going to do this? I can guess not right in the entrance.â She giggled, picking up her duffel bag.
âYou know, people usually shower after a work out. Just a thought,â he teased, âSâalright. Itâs youâre first time, Iâm sure youâll figure it out.âÂ
He plucked her duffel from her hands and slung it over his shoulder. Raised to be a gentleman, he didnât even think about the action before doing it. There were those, like Alice, who preferred to do things themselves and heâd mostly learned to let them but it was still his first instinct to open doors and carry bags and offer his coat if it was chilly. Hopefully Lily wouldnât mind.Â
âMy day was alright. A bit dull -- Iâve still got a lot of paperwork to sort out but thatâs alright. Come on,â he said, leading the way into a lift and pressing the button for the appropriate floor. âWeâll be using the Aurorâs training room today. I want to start with the basics; a lot of people end up hurting themselves because they try to do too much too fast. Youâve got to have a decent foundation before you can really jump in, you know?â
When they arrived on the right floor, he led the way through the maze of desks and offices to the training room and dropped her bag in the corner. âI know you said you donât know much about muggle defense, but I honestly want you to forget anything you think you might know. Okay? If you get into a situation where you havenât got your wand or canât use it for whatever reason, itâs important that you still know how to defend yourself. But itâs also important that you understand when to stand and fight and when to run or call for help. Youâre not a soldier or an auror or a ninja and sometimes itâs honestly better not to fight. Okay?â He took a deep breath and moved to the middle of the room. âCome on then, lets get started.â
Well, shit.(Excrabilis)||Frank & Sirius||June 13, 2015
Sirius jovially waved and blew a kiss as the biker stalked away with a glare. Frankâs arm remained around Sirius while Siriusâ posture remained easy with his own arm thoughtlessly around Frankâs waist in turn. When it was safe, Frank pulled away to knock back another shot offered to him, then Sirius flashed Frank a grin, tapping the table with a coin heâd found on the floor.Â
âSo could yours. You didnât react nearly quickly or enthusiastically enough. If I didnât know better, Iâd be insulted.â Sirius was aware then when kissing quickly it was rather like kissing a toddlerâa messy thing for the sake of having done rather than the kiss itself. At least he wasnât drunk enough to drool. There was always that.Â
When Frank asked about his shirt, Sirius managed to look for a mere second before giving an uncaring shrug. He saw shirts on others as purely optional, and Frank wasnât entirely bad to look at anyway.Â
âIâve heard,â Sirius responded with a winning grin to the insult before putting both hands over his heart and looking up toward the skies dramatically. âItâs so lucky you love me.â Once heâd paused for comedic effect, Sirius hopped off the barstool despite his height allowing him to actually touch the floor while sitting.Â
Absently, he tugged Frankâs arm, took a step forward, then quickly took a step back and leaned over the par to grab his jacket. He swung it over his shoulder, then continued weaving his way through the crowd while bikers whistled them out, no doubt assuming Sirius was the lucky man taking home their new favorite stripper. All the while, Sirius grinned and flirted back with various men until they reached the doors and, beyond them, the street.
Outside, it was more quiet, and Sirius took a breath of night, then let it back out. He pushed hair out of his face, looked around at the street, then looked at his watch, then observed the halos around the street lamps. âWhere do you want to go next?â He asked, though he wasnât sure Frank would want to continue their night.
His shirt might not be entirely necessary, but he didnât exactly relish the thought of going shirtless about London, especially if they werenât headed home. Still, it wouldnât be the first time (Auror training involved some very interesting evenings, to say the least) and it seemed highly unlikely he was going to get the garment back.Â
Frank allowed Sirius to lead him out of the bar, soaking up the attention as any true ham would. He winked and waved, grinning at the bikers as they made their assumptions and judgements about the couple currently making their way to the door. Stepping back to let Sirius exit first, he grinned mischeviously and slapped him on the arse as he went out into the street. âGânight, boys!â he called over his shoulder as the door to the bar closed behind them.Â
At least it was summer, the lack of a shirt didnât cause too much discomfort given the mild temperatures. The door to the bar cut off much of the noise and he took a deep breath, glancing around the quiet street to check their surroundings out of habit. âNext?â he asked with a chuckle, âWell, anywhere with a no shirt, no shoes, no service policy is out. Why donât we just head back to my flat -- and donât get any ideas, Black -- I can get a fresh shirt and we can order a pizza or something? Soak up the liquor a bit.â
Give Me Two Pints of Gelato || Frank & Molly
âAn angel? Who am I to argue with that.â Molly laughed as she entered Frankâs office, any nerves she had on her way down to visit him dissipated as she dramatically produced the âWorldâs Best Aurorâ mug. âAnd donât think that I skimped on it. This is the Cadillac version, charmed to be both unbreakable and tamper proof. So you should be safe from Moody.â It was all she could do to contain any emotion at mentioning his name. The list of people whose had been hands on during the bombing sheâd managed to get from Arthur was short and Alastor was at the very top of the list of people sheâd transferred her residual anger to. She shook her head as if trying to change the trajectory of her thoughts, she was trying to get back on solid ground with Arthur and this line of thought would do the opposite. âI wanted to charm it to sing when it gets empty but the charm and I were battling and Iâm afraid it won. Though it does change color when its warm or cold.â She sat it gently in the spot heâd indicated with grin as she sat down in his chair with a relieved sigh.
Considering half the unsolicited horror stories about pregnancy everyone around her felt they needed to pass along to her she knew she had an easy pregnancy, but recently her hips hurt like a booger and sitting was like some kind of nirvana. âAside from being the worlds best auror and a top notch friend? Do I need any other reason. She shook her head with a smile, âi suppose in the spirit of honesty my husband entirely ditched me and our dinner plans tonight. Apparently, the allure of a hot home cooked meal and my sparkling company is less appealing than work.â She laughed a little because they both knew it want true and that the Ministry was an obnoxiously demanding mistress that demanded attention when it was convenient for her and any other plans were tentative while youâre in her grasp. âSo i thought Iâd eat all the gelato on my own to drown my sorrows alone, but then I had a genius level idea and here I am taking you home for dinner instead. Or at least, issuing the invitation, do you have much more work tonight?â She eyed his desk, glancing up at him.
âReally?â he asked as she described the mug, âIt changes colors? Thatâs amazing! Holy shi---cow. The other Aurors are going to be so jealous. Thank you so much, this is awesome.â He wrapped her in a tight but careful-not-to-squish-the-baby hug and pressed a noisy kiss to the top of her head before letting go to examine the mug again. âIâm going to have to get one of those hidden camera things to record everyoneâs reactions to what is clearly the best gift that has ever been given to any Auror in the history of the world.âÂ
Frank set about gathering his papers -- putting aside what could wait and making a separate stack for things that really ought to be finished immediately. After a momentâs hesitation he decided that it could all wait. He deserved a night off and didnât want to cut his time with Molly short, especially after her husband had been forced to prioritize work. âHis loss, obviously. Donât worry, I am happy to fill his shoes when it comes to eating. Iâve decided that Iâm done with work for tonight, thereâs nothing that cannot wait until tomorrow and definitely nothing that outranks good food and even better company. Can I contribute anything to the evening?â

Alice: Hey, how do you know how I like my coffee?
Frank: I'm an auror. It's my job to know things.
Alice: You're walking a fine line between cute and creepy, Longbottom.
Creatures and magic and more Huzzah! | June 15th 2015 | Remus & Frank
Remus grinned at Frankâs back as he easily took control of the crowd, wondering what it felt like to have so much open attention on you. He truly was and would be a great Auror. Silently, the rest of them followed behind, tugging and pulling the bound TeeBo in close quarters.
At Frankâs question, there was a general murmur of consensus before individual silence feel again. The spell was slowly starting to wear at each of them.Â
At his second question, Remus looked to Matthews for advice, who was looking at him with a slight smirk on his own face. Remus grinned, shrugged, then continued walking, letting Matthews speak. âHead for the one of the far right, should still be empty.â
Frank could sense the weariness of the TeeBoâs handlers and stepped up his pace slightly. The last thing the needed was an invisible creature escaping and running amok in the Ministry -- even though that sounded entertaining as hell. For a moment he allowed himself to imagine the TeeBo smashing up Crouchâs office. In his mind, the mustachioed man was standing on his desk and shrieking like a 50â˛s housewife whoâd seen a mouse. It was highly entertaining, to say the least.
Once heâd gotten confirmation about which door to head toward, Frank immediately adjusted his course. He held the door open for them, grinning at Remus as they entered.Â
âAlright, everyone inside, then,â he said, ushering all the handlers into the room before closing the door behind them. As soon as the door was closed, he dropped the serious expression and let his posture relax, looking again like an excited boy. âSo what happens now?â

[Text] Good plan, Batman! Iâll text you when Iâm within the Batcave! Err.. I mean Ministry.
**************
It was a hard day at the office. Lilyâs lime robes had been washed twice, blood and vomit didnât go with the colour scheme, and cracked slightly when she folded them. It was so like the cheap Government to provide minimal muggle equipment. Itâs not her fault she didnât know the spell to soften fabric! But they were placed inside her locker neatly leaving enough room to pull out her handbag. Currently inside were several things she thought she might need:
Gum shield
Hand wrap (She even googled how to do it, ensuring she wouldnât look stupid)
Plasters (The comic book kind, featuring BOOM, POW, and WHAM in vibrant colours)
Water
Healing cream
And Marshmallows (They make good pick-me-ups!)
Lily wasnât sure what to expect from the lesson. She knew it would be hard, Frank would ensure that. she knew he wouldnât let her forget that this was her idea. âYou asked for my help, and Iâm giving it to you, so get up!â As dread rolled over her, she heaved a sigh. As painstaking as it would be, it was worth it.
She walked to the nearest floo chimney, and let the green flames engulf her. Sheâd never liked the network, always scorching her up, burning her body with the wicked fire. She came out with a burn across her cheek. âFuck, if I get punched there I will end up crying.â She hushed to herself. Pain was never easy to deal with.
[Text] Batgirl has arrived! Iâm in the entrance, do I need to wander down somewhere or are you coming to pick me up?
Frank shook his head and grinned at Lilyâs text. There were far worse things to be compared to than Batman, but the Ministry was hardly as cool as the batcave. He checked the schedule and made sure that there wasnât a class of trainees scheduled to use the padded room (which was exactly what it sounded like -- a room intended for sparring and fight training with pads on the walls and mats on the floors to soften the inevitable blows.) Luckily the trainees were all scheduled for concealment and disguise this week, so the training room was available.Â
For a moment he frowned, staring down at his own scarred knuckles, the skin having broken more times than he could count while he was learning how to hold his fist and where to put his weight to inflict maximum damage on his opponent without breaking his hand. Part of him still wanted to talk Lily out of this; she didnât need it, she wasnât a soldier. But the harsh truth was that things were likely to get much, much worse before they got better. So, while he hoped sheâd never have to use it, he knew that he wouldnât be able to forgive himself if he left her defenseless and she got hurt.Â
He shook his head and forced the little ginger from his mind while he finished out the work day, only letting himself think of her again when she texted to say sheâd arrived.Â
[Text] Frank Longbottom 17:36: Stay where you are, Batgirl, Iâll send Alfred to fetch you. [Text] Frank Longbottom 17:36: Actually, thatâs not true. Iâm coming and I donât want to be Alfred. But stay there anyway, Iâll be right down.Â
Tucking the phone into his pocket he put away his files and locked his desk before heading down to the lobby to fetch his newest student.Â
âAlright, Lily?â he said by way of greeting when he found her in the Atrium. âHow was your day?â

The More You Tell, The Less You Know || Frank & Alice || July 29
Slim fingers claimed the glass as soon as Frank retreated with the bottle, dark eyes sending a quick and grateful glance in his direction for thinking to bring it. These sorts of conversations were always eased by the burn of whiskey. The slow, even, deep tenor of Frankâs voice wasnât exactly hurting matters, either. Something about the way he spoke had never stopped resonating with her. Even in the office, even when he was meant to be speaking quietly, the moment his mouth opened her spine straightened and head cocked, seeking the source of the sound. Heâd whispered so many sweet nothings in her earâ a lifetimeâs worth, surely, despite how brief a time theyâd belonged to one anotherâ and now, for him to sound so very sad and turn those disappointed eyes on her⌠Alice nearly writhed with guilt, her resolve to stay calm and unapologetic weakening.Â
âI know youâre pissed,â she offered, and took a sip of her drink if only to waste time. The bitter burn of the whiskey at the back of her tongue did precious little to soothe her trilling nerves, and less still to tell her what the hell to say to him. Alice, who had perhaps never quite stopped loving him the way she ought to, could rarely bear his disapproval. âWith me, I mean. It wasâ a rough time, Frank. And I donât particularly want to talk about it but if you doâ if you do, I guess nowâs better than never. Can we get it over with? Kill the elephant?âÂ
âIâm not pissed,â he said, lifting his head to look back at her. âI was angry at first, but it wasnât even real anger... more hurt, I guess. I get why you did what you did, I even get why you broke up with me -- I fucked up. I know that. But I hate that you felt like you couldnât talk to me about it. What did you think I was going to do? Lock you in my basement and force you to have a baby you didnât want?âÂ
He paused, taking a long sip of his drink and shaking his head. âThat wasnât fair. Iâm sorry. This week has been a shit show and Iâm frustrated and Iâm sad, but Iâm not angry. Thereâs a difference, maybe not a big one but I think itâs an important one.âÂ
Maybe he wasnât being fair. Maybe coming here, asking her to relive something sheâd spent a decade dedicated to hiding was a dick move. Honestly, he didnât know anymore. âIt was a rough time for both of us, Alice,â he agreed, his voice back to being low and gentle. âAnd I am so sorry that I wasnât there for you, that I didnât see what was happening. I got caught up in my own shit, thatâs my fault. But I want us to be okay. I need us to be okay. I donât want to lose you again. So... if that means we donât talk about this again, then fine, I can live with that. I just thought, maybe, it would be good to clear the air. You can tell me whatever you want and leave out anything you donât want to talk about. You can ask me anything -- no secrets left to hide, so Iâll tell you anything you want to know. Just donât shut me out again. Please.âÂ
[Text] Hey Frankisaurus! I was, well.. erm, I kind need your... help? I guess? I don't know enough hand-to-hand combat to feel any use to the Order. When it comes to field work, I feel totally lacking. Could you help me, please? I'm a fast learner and I'm super committed. Help me out? - Lily x
Frank frowned at his phone for a long moment, feeling a bit conflicted. Everyone should know how to defend themselves, but Lily was a civilian not a soldier, Auror, or other peacekeeper. How many fights was she anticipating at the hospital? As much as he wanted to deny that she needed to know how to do âfield workâ as she put it, heâd never forgive himself if she went out unprepared and got herself hurt or killed. Sighing, he tapped out a reply.Â
[Text] Hand to hand combat is definitely not the only way for you to be useful, but I can still teach you how to defend yourself. Whatâs your schedule look like?
No the only way to defend yourself? She wasnât the best at DADA but she wasnât the worst either. Magically she had herself covered, but the what ifâs were too busy to ignore.
[Text] Honestly? After Work, free as a bird. I am not deficient at Magical defense, Iâm just not covered without it. And Thank you for doing this! I really appreciate it.Â
[Text] Alright -- come by the ministry when you get off of work, we can go over the basics and go from there?Â
