âFor I know the plans I have for you,â declares the LORD, âplans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.â Jeremiah 29:11, NIV.
The scripture tells us that without vision, people perish. If you donât have a dream or vision for your life, then youâre not really going to reach your fullest potential. Maybe at one time you had a dream, but you went through some disappointments or setbacks. Things didnât turn out the way you planned. But hereâs a key: when one dream dies, dream another dream. Just because it didnât work out the way you had it planned doesnât mean that God doesnât have another plan. You cannot allow one disappointment or even a series of disappointments to convince you that your dream is over. Itâs time to dig your heals in and hold on to the promises in your heart. Stir up those God-given dreams today and watch Him pour out His favor and blessing upon you and fulfill every desire in your heart!
Thank you God for your Word!

Internships are the building blocks of your rĂŠsumĂŠ. Apply to them. Meet people. Choose a degree that is relevant to the real world. Minor in History if you love it so much. Everyone knows how to use Microsoft Office. Putting it under the âSkillsâ section of your rĂŠsumĂŠ is not impressive. See the world. This is the only time you have in your life to spend months in a foreign country. Take advantage of your lack of responsibility to travel. 99.9% of employers will never look at your transcript. A 4.0 GPA will not land you a job. Good interpersonal skills might. No employer cares whether you were on the executive board of your fraternity or sorority or other campus organization. Serve the organization because you love it, not simply to use it as space-filler on your rĂŠsumĂŠ. Proofread everything. Twice. Or else no one will believe that youâre âdetial-oriented.â You have four (or five) years to make something of yourself. Use that time wisely. Go out with your friends on a Tuesday night despite having a test on Wednesday. The test wonât matter in ten years, but your friendships will. Do not expect the college senior to fall in love with you after you sleep together. Actually, just donât sleep together. This will not end well. Really get to know your professors. Use office hours to your advantage. You never know what doors they can open for you. Graduate school is rarely a good idea, especially if youâre only using it to delay the real world for a few years. The more money you make now, the less debt youâll have later. Realize that you will be in debt until youâre forty. Make peace with this early. One bad grade wonât ruin your life. Get over yourself. Beware of credit cards. No matter what they say, money isnât free. Donât burn bridges. You never know when you might need help from someone. Eat good food. Nothing will make you feel worse than six straight nights of Ramen. Buy a plunger before you actually need said plunger. Just trust me on this one. Press save. It will keep you from having that 4:00am mental breakdown. All-nighters will not help you learn the material. Budget time throughout the day to study so that you can actually sleep before the final exam. Use a condom. No one wants that âIâm lateâ text. Work during the summers. Employers want someone with real-life experience. Call your mom once a week. She wants to stay involved in your life, and a twenty-minute phone conversation wonât kill you. You have four years to learn your alcohol limit. This will save you from puking at the office Christmas party. The college cafeteria will make you fat. So will alcohol. Be careful about what youâre putting into your body. Find a few hours each week to work out. Cardio is great stress relief. So is sex. Booty calls are sometimes necessary. Donât beat yourself up for it in the morning. Learn to cook. Eating out is expensive and unhealthy. A few basics can last you a long time. Take pictures. Not everything has to be posted to Instagram, but you will want to have these memories documented. Volunteer. Not because you have to, but because you want to. The Humane Society always needs people to play with the animals. Learn how to budget. Your parents wonât be around to give you money forever. Buy shower shoes. Use them. Save yourself from foot fungus. Beer is expensive. Buy vodka. Interviews are nerve-wracking. Practice with a friend before you go. Find good references. They can be the difference between being offered your dream job and being turned down. Itâs okay to turn down your first job offer to wait for a better one. Have faith in yourself. If youâre treated like a slave at your internship, itâs okay to leave. Find a company that sees your worth. Learn how to code HTML. This is an invaluable skill. Also learn Photoshop. Every company in the world needs someone who can design a poster. Take a couple classes just for fun. Thereâs a difference between smart and educated. Know your priorities. Stick to them. Start searching for a job a year before you graduate. It takes time to find something you want. Apply for jobs you may not be completely qualified for. You may be the only applicant. Donât get too discouraged when you fail at something. Lay in bed for two days. Cry. Then get back up and start living again. Everyone has something to teach you. Listen to them. Make mistakes, but be sure to learn from them. Textbooks are expensive and you will never need them again. Rent, donât buy. No one will ever care how wasted you were last night. They saw it first hand. Shut up. No one is responsible for you except you. Think twice before you do something. Donât think that these have to be the best four years of your life. Life after graduation is pretty awesome too.

10 Great Quotes from Francis Chan
We say things like, âI can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,â and âTrust in the Lord with all your heart.â Then we live and plan like we donât believe God even exists. We try to set our lives up so everything will be fine even if God doesnât come through. But true faith means holding nothing back. It means putting every hope in Godâs fidelity to His promises.
Our greatest fear as individuals and as a church should not be of failure but of succeeding at things in life that donât really matter.
If life were stable, Iâd never need Godâs help. Since itâs not, I reach out for Him regularly. I am thankful for the unknowns and that I donât have control, because it makes me run to God.
We are consumed by safety. Obsessed with it, actually. Now, Iâm not saying it is wrong to pray for Godâs protection, but I am questioning how weâve made safety our highest priority. Weâve elevated safety to the neglect of whatever Godâs best is, whatever would bring God the most glory, or whatever would accomplish His purposes in our lives and in the world.
Christians today like to play it safe. We want to put ourselves in situations where we are safe âeven if there is no God.â But if we truly desire to please God, we cannot live that way. We have to do things that cost us during our life on earth but will be more than worth it in eternity.
To be brutally honest, it doesnât really matter what place you find yourself in right now. Your part is to bring Him gloryâwhether eating a sandwich on a lunch break, drinking coffee at 12:04 a.m. so you can stay awake to study, or watching your four-month-old take a nap. The point of your life is to point to Him. Whatever you are doing, God wants to be glorified, because this whole thing is His. It is His movie, His world, His gift.
This is the God we serve, the God who knew us before He made us. The God who promises to remain with us and rescue us. The God who loves us and longs for us to love Him back.
God has allowed hard things in your life so you can show the world that your God is great and that knowing Him brings peace and joy, even when life is hard.
A friend of mine once said that Christians are like manure: spread them out and they help everything grow better, but keep them in one big pile and they stink horribly.
It is easy to become disillusioned with the circumstances of our lives compared to othersâ. But in the presence of God, He gives us a deeper peace and joy that transcends it all.
