Was Zoro always been so caring to females? To Nami, yes.

When Nami arrives at the scene where Arlong and his men have tied Zoro she reveals to him that she always worked for Arlong. That shocks Zoro:

However, notice the panels below. Zoro pays attention to Nami's expression when Arlong praises her scheme and realizes that there is more than meets the eye about her situation ( and about how she actually feels about betraying the strawhats)

So what Zoro does next? He jumps into the pool while his hands are still tied:

A very powerful moment and also a risky move on his end, because if Nami didn't rescue him he would have drown. His life could have ended and same could be said about his dream to become the strongest swordsman. At that moment he prioritised his gambling of confirming Nami's true nature, over his precious ambition and even his life.

Well, luckily for him Nami didn't let him down and jumped in to rescue him:

And then Zoro tells her that he saw right through her lie of not caring. Great moment between two of the most important Op characters:

Zoro, who usually agrues with Nami when she orders him around, doesn't do it this time. Instead, he's taking his frustration at Sanji acknowledging that it's his -Sanji's- fault he had to tag along:

Nami was right to trust Zoro to make sure no harm comes to her body because when Sanji ( in Nami's body) accidentally slips, Zoro first instinct is to catch him before he realises he's not helping Nami but Sanji instead:
