(@east-side-pole my tumblr isnāt letting me answer the ask my apologies)
Foxtrot found herself looking through the window of a bakery eyeing its goods. a sense of despair hitting her once she feels her empty pockets. sheās starving and they look delicious. just her luck.
A thought pops into her head, if she was real careful she could take a few things and slip away unnoticed. the idea is tempting but hesitation slips in she hasnāt been very lucky this week, if she gets caught this could be another store sheās banned from. one less place to get food from. she remains in place debating herself unaware that she was being watched by the girl working in the bakery. unaware that someone was preparing a basket for her.
As sheās about to leave something catches her eye āa basket?ā she picks it up carefully almost afraid to damage the goods inside of it, she inspects it gently removing the blanket before taking note of the treats inside some she recognised others she didnāt, they looked amazing though she couldnāt wait to dig in. Foxtrot looks around but there seemed to be no one else here. was the basket meant for her?
Another thing catches her attention a note she places the basket down gently thereās no worry of anyone taking it from her but sheās still cautious.
Sheās curious to who may have left a basket of treats for her she hopes the note has a name, maybe she could thank them. if they werenāt one of the many people who seemed to dislike her. her eyes lead her to the bottom of the note signed āKalinaā she whispers the name she thinks sheās heard it around before.
She reads the rest of the note āsomething filling for everyone from the heart of Polandā the second part of the text is in a language unfamiliar to her, she rereads it hoping sheāll miraculously be able to translate it but alas nothing. she continues staring at the text her curiosity begins to eat at her she has to know what it says, she doesnāt think sheāll be able to rest until she has her answers.
Sheāll have to find Kalina if she wants answers she takes a look at the bakery. āmaybe sheās still thereā Foxtrot is hesitant to walk into the bakery but her curiosity will eat at her if she doesnāt attempt to.
(You are such a lovely write I hope my response is okay <33)
I was in the back of the bakery preparing to bake some more chruscikis as i heard the bell above the door open.
āwelcome in! i be with you in a moment!ā i said, my thick accent shining through.
As i finished cutting the strips for the pastry, i walked back out to the main room, seeing the back of the head of the girl i had seen before. the girl i left the basket for. i guess she was curious and came back to see what the note read.
āhello! anything i help you with today?ā i asked, pretending i hadnt left a basket for her just a little bit ago, not knowing how she would react. i knew how it was around here, quite a bit of people didnt like handouts or asking for help, they would get upset if you tried to help them. very different from Poland.
((thank you so much that means so much to meš„¹ i love the way you write as well))
Foxtrot takes a leap of faith and walks through the bakery door, heart skipping a beat over the sound of a bell ringing.
Upon entering a girl welcomes her in she sounds friendly and seems to be a small bit older than Marilyn. Foxtrot notices her polish accent.
āHello!ā Foxtrot replies hoping she sounds as friendly as the girl she hopes is Kalina does. the note in her pocket is a reminder of what she came in to do. she takes a breath despite everything initiating conversations was never her strong suit.
She pulls the note out of her pocket taking a few steps towards the girl.
āCan I have help with something?ā she asks showing her the note.
āAre you Kalina?ā
(thank you so much youāre very kind your words mean a lot to meš)
āoh! yes i am! how can i help you?ā i smiled at her as i wiped some flour off my hands.
āare you looking for anything uh specific? we have lots of uh different treats, very good though, i make them myself!ā
She feels a sense of relief over the confirmation that she had the right girl. a small smile fell on her face the welcoming atmosphere was almost unfamiliar to her. (Was this the universes way of awarding her for not stealing?)
āYou made these yourself? holy-ā Marilyn cuts herself off not wanting to make a bad first impression.
āThatās really impressive you must be really giftedā she smiles sweetly feeling a sense of wonder over the girl.
Remembering the note in her hand she gets a reminder of her question.
āKalina, would you be able to translate this for me?ā she asks.
