1. Open the image you want to edit.

2. Use the wand tool and select every part of the image you want to delete.

I use a solid color CAS background to make editing easier.

Holding SHIFT while clicking allows you select more than one area at once with the wand tool.

3. Double-click the layer titled “Background” to unlock it. Then, click delete/backspace to remove your background.

This can be done as Step 1

4. Click Layer > New > Layer… to create the layer you’re going to use as your background. 

5. Move the new layer behind your original image. It’s as simple as clicking and dragging to rearrange the order.

I like to pull a color from the original image to use as a background. I used my Sim’s hair in this edit.

6. Click Layer > Layer Style > Stroke…

7. Size changes the outline thickness and color changes the color. I used size 8 and the color white for this edit.

8. Click File > Save As.. to save your image. I prefer to save my edits as a PNG.

I run a PS action of my choice before saving, that’s what the Solstice layers are.
