I’m so happy with the small circle of people I have in my life right now.

she laid still in the grass, it was nearing midnight and a chilly fog hung in the air above her. hours before, she had lost everything. but she never cried, never blubbered incoherent words of remorse. instead she took a walk outside, sunk into a grassy field and just laid there, motionless. so when i saw her, i asked her, ‘what’s keeping you from feeling?’ there was a moment of heavy silence before her soft chuckles drifted from her lips, ‘i knew this would happen.’ she whispered, ‘nothing ever goes right. i’ve been preparing to lose everything since day one. it’s just so much easier to forget that happy endings exist.’ so i sunk into the grass as well, the somber mood washing over me. ‘what a clever trick,’ i thought to myself. but it really wasn’t a clever trick, not one at all. but i kept my sobs muted and together we mourned the loss of her once vivid hope.
