On political predictions, prophecies, astrology and tarot readings
Stick. To. Your. Guns.
The biggest mistake I see in political predictions, whether done by mundane analysis or spiritual insight or casting bones across the floor, is when the prognosticator refuses to stand by what they predicted. Often, I see political predictors change their predictions long before the event they're predicting the outcome takes place, usually turning to the whims of the tide of public opinion and the most recent polls, no matter how trustworthy those actually are. Worse is when I see them change their interpretations after some aspect of their prediction doesn't go as they expected, even when the prediction is still correct,
One astrologer I followed in 2016 predicted months before November that Trump would probably lose based on his chart, but also that it was a chart that could belong to the winner of the Presidency. But if Trump won the Presidency, his chart, according to this astrologer's reading, showed very clearly that it would be a difficult Presidency and that his life was basically downhill from the 2016 Republican National Convention, where his nomination for Republican candidate for President was essentially the highest point in his entire life.
After Trump won the 2016 election, this astrologer completely backed down from this reading and put out an analysis explaining how they could have made such "mistakes" and what they had "missed" in their first reading. But I didn't see why: the reading didn't predict a Hillary Presidency. Also, it would take time to see if Trump's Presidency was successful or not, if his life would get awesomer from that point onward or if he would experience decline. It would take time to see whether any of his acolytes would turn on him, whether he could lead the country to outright armed rebellion or simply fail trying, whether he would look happier after the Presidency... or before.
From the point in time I'm looking at, Trump's Presidency was not great for him personally and his life got worse afterward. In some ways his political power has increased, but in many ways his quality of life, his happiness, his accomplishments... they're just not as great anymore as they were in 2016, and he might not ever make them great again.
That astrologer should have stuck by their prediction. They were right. But when it comes to predictions, seeing if you're right takes time. If you predict the winner of a horse race, seeing where the horses are during the middle of the race should not affect your prediction if your prediction is based in intuition or the mystical, because your prediction is only about the end of the race and its results. For an analytical prediction, the middle results might matter, but with many horse races a lot changes in the last stretch of the race, after that middle part. Many horses get a second wind. Some seem slow early on and then show their true colors later. If you're the type of person who can predict things, via any means at all, you can call the shots before they're taken... but to do that, you've got to stick to your guns.
