help... i died doing this... submission for a magazine... desc below...
It’s quite simple actually, I cannot draw well, haha! I said as I spent well over ten hours. I picked out some of McLaren’s most notable drivers, not all, or I would have to cram them even more, and sorted them into five sections. I tried my best to group them into their respective eras, as well-known duos. It was hard to choose them and yet place them into respective groups, therefore there are some outliers.
(Mostly) In order, they are
Bruce McLaren – Top sector, top
Emerson Fittipaldi – Top sector, bottom
Niki Lauda – Top right sector, top
James Hunt – Top right sector, bottom
Ayrton Senna – Bottom right sector, right
Alain Prost - Bottom right sector, left
Mika Häkkinen – Bottom left sector, right
David Coulthard - Bottom left sector, left
Lewis Hamilton – Top left sector, bottom
Lando Norris – Top left sector, top
The emblem in the middle was, basically, taken from when McLaren won their championship last year, as I saw it fit for the middle of the page, which connects all of the sectors together. This can symbolise how all of the drivers are in some way connected to McLaren, through their careers, no matter how long or short their careers with the team were. I chose to put the eras in a clockwise position/motion, showing looking back on the past, learning from it, and carrying on despite setbacks. This can be seen as the art piece, no matter what, continues on in a clockwise motion, with no pauses in-between (as it is connected by the middle).
Why am I starting to write an inference paragraph? Oh well, guess it’s my love for history.
