I don't know if you know the story of Punch. In case you don't here is a really brief summary : Punch is a young Japanese macaque living in Ichikawa City Zoo in Japan and who, for some reason, was rejected by his mother. He was bullied by his macaque group and the zookeepers, seeing this, gave him an orangutan plushie. This little macaque immediately attached himself to this plushie and acted as a mother figure, cuddling, going to see it for affection. His zookeepers were there to take care of him for his physical wellbeing, but he was on his own for his emotional wellbeing (well, almost, because he has a favorite zookeeper that offers him a bit of sympathy).
