I was right about Paige having to carry an offensive load daily and it still wasn't enough. I also knew Zaza was inconsistent so I wasn't high on her. The defense was horrible from our post. Defended the PNRs horribly too. Paige had an amazing game and displayed her playmaking skills

Proud of Paige last night. I know it's still very very early, but Paige is going to carry offensively in some games. Not sure if I trust Maddy three ball but I liked how much she was rebounding. Zaza had a leap but I'm not sure how it translates against real teams and her basketball IQ is shaky. Overall, great game.

idk why some people won’t admit that a rookie might take some time adjusting to a whole new league with bigger and stronger players than what they are used to. we saw it last year with paige sometimes and she worked on that and got better

we see it all the time with rookies it’s really not you discrediting azzi. even paige last w season would be seen as a weaker defender than she was in college cause the physicality is a lot different in the league than it is in college

I agree, and expecting a rookie who just had a deep tournament run to defend these faster, stronger players is insane. That’s going to take a lot of energy. We’re also relying on her to contribute on offense, which is one of the primary reasons why I think Paige will carry a heavy offensive load again. Paige didn't need to spend all her energy on defense last season but we are already putting pressure on Azzi because of her now defensive reputation. All I am saying is that it is much harder to defend in the pro level

what you said about azzi wasn’t shady and it’s okay cause very similar things were said about paige last year, there were things she needed to work on and that was okay. a big topic last year was paige shooting threes and working defensively especially since she just came out of the college season

hopefully with more help this year azzi isn’t having to play crazy minutes like paige had to last year, playing 36/37 as a rookie was crazy and you could tell sometimes in the way she played that she was tired and that’s not hating on paige to say

My whole point was that I don't want that to happen again. That's why I said it is concerning if Paige has to carry a heavy load again and it's weird for people to act like Paige fans shouldn't care. Paige's defense wasn't a topic last year at all. It was mainly Paige fans complaining about her three ball.

My point exactly, Azzi is about to be a rookie and for the amount of time that shes played shes already amazing and is only going to improve. You see major improvement from Paiges first game as a rookie to her last game on team usa.

Idk if the back & fourth with anons is causing you to be bitter about Azzi but please check yourself. Would Paige agree with you making shady comments about Azzi?

We already went through a whole season of UConn fans complaining about Azzi having to focus so much on the defensive end that it impacted her offense. It's too much to ask for a player who just finished a college season."

I've already seen Paige play a full season in the W and play for Team USA. I know how she'll look like

as long as paige isn’t just running around the court not touching the ball every possession than i honestly am just gonna sit back and wait. jose and curt have alluded to paige doing a lot and being guarded the hardest, but i think it’s harder to talk about what others can bring offensively when we don’t have the full team

and the wings need better practice players who will actually guard paige, cause we know she’ll be guarded heavily. unfortunately without most of the projected starters being there it makes it harder to imagine paige’s load being lighter but once the season starts it will be much easier to gage

I agree. I don't think the practice players really mean anything. Paige already has experience playing against these top players in the league and was successful at it. I think everyone across the league is dealing with bad practice players. I will wait until pre season games to see how it will look like, I know thats still early but I just need to see it.

You dont think Azzi is capable of guarding pro-level players? you must not have watched how fast her hands & feet are. That comment was ignorant and thats exactly why people got on you for bringing it up. Azzi is a better defender than Paige and arguably a little faster (thats not to say paiges defense isn’t good) Az is also stronger than her, She will not struggle guarding pro level players and with the team we have she wont be expected to carry so much defensively.. also a reason why the coach wants paige to do more defensively.

no your making it more than it is. Shes a Pg being asked to be a Pg and also play defense?? Imo her and Azzi will have the biggest loads to carry this season and thats exhausting for both of them. when one of them has an off night we have others who can step up.

Wings one 10 games last season and 2 of which when Paige was out, take a look at this years roster compared to last.. they will be fine

Wings only won once when Paige was out. Stop re writing history. Last season there was so many injuries, players traded and a rookie head coach. Go be obtuse somewhere else.
