Jimena gave him a smirk. In truth, she preferred him as her equal; as someone with whom she could share just about anything—but she hoped she didn't need to explain that. Sighing contentedly, she closed her eyes for a moment resting against his shoulder. "I see." The exhaustion sank back in now that the cold was abated by clothing and closeness, but she quickly shook off the urge to slumber. "You really think he would deign to educate me?" she wondered aloud, surprised Flynn would suggest it.

“I don’t see why not.” Flynn gently rolled to his feet without warning, offering Jimena his hand as smoothly as he’d shrugged her off his shoulder (not unkindly, but to let her know it was time to move--he’d been getting sleepy in the cold, too, after all). “He might see it as a chance to spread ye olde pagan propaganda.” His eyes sparkled as he said it, though.

“Now--come on. I think it’s high time we got out of the cold and back to my place. You can warm and freshen up there. And I’ve got food that isn’t apples, shockingly, for a change...” He twiddled his fingers at her and cocked his head reassuringly, his smile fond.

This had been the celebration he’d been searching for, in a way--not a lot of fanfare, a smaller crowd for company, and a sense of security and family he could find nowhere else but in her.

At that, she genuinely laughed. "As hilarious as that might be, I think I prefer you the way you are." Jimena reached up to affectionately flick a lock of hair from his face before settling next to him. "It is a little strange ... okay, very strange. For someone like me, like I was, unthinkable. But here we are," she shrugged. "You know, I don't think I actually know any of the Celtic stories? I was taught the Greek ones in school, because it's referenced so much in literature, but that's it."

“What, boorish, rude, and helplessly pessimistic?” Flynn remarked dryly, scrunching up his face and purposefully tousling his hair after the fact. His face relaxed a little at the way Jimena settled next to him, however--he felt safer with her by his side, somehow. The sense of pack was surprisingly healthy, in comparison to his previous years of...well, not that.

“They’re windy and unending, is the problem. Not really fit for kids in school,” he remarked, wrapping an arm around Jimena’s shoulders after a moment or so with a little shrug and a smile. “Then again, neither were the Greeks, for entirely separate reasons. The old Celts were mostly nature-driven deities, more than people-driven...I’ll have to have Abellio tell you the tales sometime. No one knows the legends better. Other than that ornery redhead who runs that one bar.”

Jimena rolled her eyes. "Then you'll be the unlikely roguish friend I go on all my adventures with, clearly," she teased. The 'wolf listened pensively, taking in Flynn's reflections on his patron's unease. Despite her own friendships, she didn't quite understand this type of relationship with a deity, but she tried. Relaxing her posture slightly, she nodded. "Vale, I don't think I'd want to ah ... 'spread the word'? either." A pause, and she tilted her head. "Wait, what rumors?" she asked.

“Better than being the inevitably chatty, obnoxious sidekick who is nine out of ten times an awkward little animal or anthropomorphic inanimate object,” Flynn retorted, sniffing and crossing his arms. The last thing he wanted was to end up an elaborate candelabra or sassy saucepan.

“Oh--just the mention of a potential Celtic goddess on the Isle,” Flynn said, as if commenting on an expected shower due in a few hours. “Ceridwen, I believe? Nothing’s confirmed just yet, but I’m sure once one person knows for certain, we all will.” He thinned his lips.

“Honestly, the conglomerate of gods in this place makes me nervous as-is.” A pause. “You know, along with literally everything else.” As per usual.

Yelping slightly at the sudden cold assault, she shoved him for good measure before hurriedly clearing the snow from her hair. "And how's that, exactly?" she raised a brow at her companion, though she knew the answer. She'd get him back for the snow later. Noting Flynn's expression, she chuckled knowingly. She was still getting used to her new family's religion, too, so she understood. Regarding his Solstice, she tilted her head. "So somber... is that typical or just Abellio being tough on you?"

Flynn snickered as he was shoved, watching Jimena with impish eyes and a crooked grin, dusting snow and dirt from his hands; his accompanying sigh self-satisfied. “Let’s see--practical, beautiful, responsible, good with animals...textbook Disney princess.” His eyes danced as he glanced from the woods back to Jimena, lips quirking anew. “I’m shocked you don’t have your own movie yet.”

He hesitated, then shrugged, facially and otherwise, palms up. “Abellio is just a cranky old man, with a cranky old purpose,” Flynn hedged vaguely, hands rolling to do most of the talking for him. “I think he’s afraid the time of his pantheon is running out.” Flynn scratched his cheek and flicked his brows. “I disagree, especially considering rumors of a certain lunar entity on the Isle; now, of similar Celtic origins, but he insists I need to like. Go recruit for him or something. So not my scene...”
