House Hunting || Avery & Blue
“Defensible?” An odd choice of focus for anyone but him. Giggling, she shook her head, glancing at the windows they passed. “I should hope it was. That’s the most important room in any home. Everything good happens in a kitchen.” Unfortunately none of the windows opened to a kitchen. No sneak peaks for her after all. Stopping and grabbing his arm she pointed to a door a few homes down. “Is that it? I can’t read the number from this angle.” Truthfully she wasn’t sure if she was ready. It would all be real once they walked through the door, and there out on the sidewalk she could forget for a moment that they weren’t getting married for love but for peace.
Avery nodded, still glancing around for overhangs and other territorial threats. But so far the street was quite acceptable. “Hmmm … I would usually disagree with you on that one but I suppose we can mate there as well as anywhere else.” Avery replied quite seriously before stepping back to see if he could see the number on the door. “Yes. I think so. That appears to be the correct number.”
“Avery!” She squealed, turning around to see if anyone overheard. “You can’t say things like that. Someone could hear you.” Not finding any scandalized faces staring at them Blue settled, pulling his arm to get them moving again. If that was his conversation choice then at least they could be in private. “I was talking about the good smells, food, company... do you think we’ll be settled someplace by Beltane? I’d love to be able to make bread this year.”
