After the gang break up (before they head to spooky island) the most calm of them is Shaggy. Sure, heâs upset that everyoneâs fighting, but he understands that eventually theyâll all find their way back to each other. Heâs taking this time to explore restaurants with Scooby, and is having a chill time mostly. Because he still talks to the others, nobodies mad at Shaggy. The others arenât doing so hot, theyâre all angry and sad. Fred takes his time to write his book, like heâs the main character, trying to internally justify his actions, of taking credit and being the hero by always saving Daphne. Daphneâs taking out her anger on how sheâs always being saved by Fred, and outsmarted by Velma, through her martial arts training. Velma throws herself into her work to prove that sheâs fine on her own and doesnât need the others to be successful. But from when they hear from Shaggy, whoâs actually processed his emotions and dealt with them in a healthy manner, they realise how crappy their lives are without the gang.
Itâs why they all take the job on spooky island, they pretend they didnât think the others would be there, but they knew the invite was for all of them. Subconsciously they wanted to see the others, to be together again. Of course seeing them is hard, and everyoneâs still in the same place as before, and they remember why they left in the first place, but they still miss being a group, and solving mysteries together.
And of course it all works out in the end. Fred realises itâs a team effort, Daphne finds a way to be more than the damsel in distress, Velma is shown sheâs more than just the brain. And Shaggy continues to do as Shaggy does, enjoy his time with the gang.
Happy ending for all
