GOD UGH just thinking about the way grace on the petrova task force had to be managed. Be gentle to him and don't let his insecurity overwhelm him when he's surrounded by experts and politicians and feels like he shouldn't be there, and thinks that everyone must know about his academic crashout and hate him for it. Make sure he gets treated as a respected and valued member of the team. But at the same time, don't let him know that he's important, or the weight of the responsibility will crush him. Also, don't let him be too snippy and argumentative and defensive and sensitive with his fellow scientists, and don't let his easily bruised ego get too big. And make sure he gets frequent distractions and stimulation and physical exercise so that his temper doesn't boil over and cause him to lash out at someone. And don't be too nice to him or he'll get spooked and shy away and then you won't be able to keep a close enough eye on when he's not eating and not sleeping and not resting. He only feels comfortable with you taking care of his wellbeing if he thinks it's for practical reasons and not because you care for him as a person, because he's scared of the obligation of having to be caring in return because he knows he's not good at it.
