KAE EXPLAINED (Clairebell) because they made her SO SUSPICIOUS and I couldn’t stop trying to figure it out.
My theory? Kae is imprisoned for being a drug dealer, is actively addicted to cocaine, and is dealing drugs to inmates through the library. LETS DEEP DIVE into the evidence:
1. Kae is oddly excited for someone who is in jail? The number one effect of cocaine use is being energized and an elated sense of happiness. Her “personality” fits this characterization.
2. Kae wiping her nose. A side effect of cocaine use is a constant runny nose. She’s either wiping her nose from sniffing it or wiping a runny nose.
3. Stomach pain from “spicy food”? Cocaine use intensifies risk for other medical problems to develop. The “dust allergy” meds are actually likely to manage some medical issue from her addiction. A show like this doesn’t insert information without it meaning something, the spicy food meant nothing for that scene because it’s an excuse for the important part - stomach pain.
4. “Dust allergy”. Insanely enough, the meds ARE technically for her dust allergy, because dust is street slang for cocaine. She didn’t lie!
5. Joking about being a drug dealer or addict when meeting Bell. Her introduction is a joking type of character so we automatically pass the possibility of drug dealing/addiction off as nonsense when she says a second time “I’m joking with you!” to throw us off.
6. Kae’s jail number being so much older than everyone else’s suggests she’s been jailed for a really long time. Distribution of drugs in Thailand can land you 2 yrs minimum in prison up to a lifetime. (Numbers pointed out in the below image by someone else)
7. Kingpin dealing drugs to inmates through her library system? C’mon, we wouldn’t expect a place full of criminals to not get some suspicious materials in from the outside world with a system like this. This would explain why the 3Ds seem to be protecting her during the mop scene, and why nobody messes with Bell the newbie after Kae took her under her wing (until there’s some justification like mishandling Deedee’s package). All the ladies were jeering at Bell when she first walked in to go to her cell, but nobody approached her after becoming Kae’s cellmate. It highlights that Kae is highly respected or protected.. cause she may be the prison dealer.
8. Why all the love-bombing? Kae is lovebombing Bell to gain her sincere trust so that Bell won’t rat her out for using/dealing drugs. Who would tattle on the person who basically became your first safeguard in jail? The person who showed you how to navigate such a traumatic place and became a friendly face amidst the depravity? OR it’s to use her in the drug dealing system after gaining trust.
9. Now wouldn’t it just be perfectly ironic for the innocent girl who’s wrongly incarcerated for drug possession, specifically cocaine, to be locked up as a cellmate with a powerful drug dealing mastermind who’s serving a rightly earned sentence for dealing cocaine.. and is STILL dealing. (If this is true, I feel like the scales of injustice are going to further weigh against Bell and create a more unjust, helpless tension in her storyline. The power imbalance is insane if Kae is the kingpin, she’d totally use that against Bell).
10. We already have violence/murder themes heavily emphasized with Claire and then Deedee + her helpers. I don’t think Kae is another killer.
What do you think?
