[Just moved these four assholes to a new sideblog attached to my Yang (@gcldiilocks) because I’m just there more and it’ll be easier to keep track of them. Plus, I haven’t done anything on them yet really, so it shouldn’t be much of a setback.

Intro Note: Scene with @flcwerpower taking place in Mistral several years before “current” blog canon.

Onyx was surprised to hear he was being taken all the way to Mistral for this event.  A visit to the Pasque Arms Company to meet with their CEO, family, and discuss investment opportunities.  It wasn’t rare that he and his family traveled to meet with business partners but long distance trips like this were always a little nerve wracking.  He didn’t even have any company for the trip.  Ivory had spent the last few weeks rather busy in her training and it looked like Onyx would have to just go without his usual method of keeping away from interacting.

As such, he was pushed in front of a girl around his own age at almost the moment they exited the plane and got onto the Pasque estate.  Onyx couldn’t help but glare at her once he was out of earshot of their parents.  He knew what this was about.  If the thought of an arrangement didn’t grace the deals, he’d be shocked.

He carefully rubs an arm, thankful for the soft material of his shirt.  He had begun training to get ready for Atlas in a few years.  Of course, the discovery of his “cowardly” semblance and subsequent choice of weapon was an uphill battle.  His arms still hurt pretty bad.  The ache of all the lashes from his own weapon weren’t easily ignored.  He’d been on painkillers for a while but those had been taken away.  He’d have to tough it out and wait for the impending scars to heal over.

Taking a short, breath, he turns his scowl into a smile and gives a courteous bow.  He was a guest after all.  “Ah, you must be Lady Pasque.”  He didn’t actually get the girl’s first name yet but he’d be damned if he looked like a fool in front of anyone.  “I am Onyx Cheshire.  As you undoubtedly already know, my family has come to visit.  I suppose our parents thought we might keep each other company while they discussed business matters.”

Not limited to shackling us together, no doubt…

He didn’t want to get too friendly with his new host.  The last thing he wanted was to encourage this trend.  Ever since he started to come of age, he’d been introduced to nearly every one of his father’s potential business partners with careful consideration taken to the girls.  Some were a bit too much older or younger than he was comfortable with but he could tell the meaning easily.  These were more suitors than business partners even if it was still secondary to the actual connections and deals being made.  Officially arranged marriages were rare this day and age but the implicit pairing of high-class individuals by way of putting children together during frequent business meetings was something he picked up on quick.

Word was that their son would be accompanying them to Mistral as well. How exciting! Perhaps she could practice the art of the deal herself today. In regards to what, she wasn’t sure. She would just have to figure that out as she went along.

In time, she heard footsteps approaching from the hallway. Quickly, she stood and straightened the creases in her dress. In the presence of prestigious company, one should appear as proper as possible.

The boy wasn’t quite what she had expected, per se. He certainly looked the part, but he seemed... uncertain. In any event, she was going to make him feel as welcome as possible.

“Oh, dear Onyx, leave the formalities to our parents. Please, call me Violet,” she replied, though she still gave a slight curtsy in response to his bow. “Yes, I have heard word of our families’ negotiations. I must say, I’m honored that you’ve all taken the time to meet with us.”

Her hands delicately floated in front of her face and torso as she spoke, each movement fluid and precise, if a bit erratic. The nerves that ran through her brain were notorious for these kinds of anxious behaviors.

“It’s horrifying the stories I hear now. I swear if someone even touches a feather on my nephews’ heads someone is going to die, wether I kill them or my brother does…”

A shake of the head, it seems she’s missed the slip, or is simply not drawing attention to it.

“Well, I can’t exactly make any promises, but I’ll try m’best.” She smiled up at the older woman. She couldn’t remember the last time she met someone quite this understanding with her behavior. Lily stood, stretching her arms behind her head.

“I feel we have a difference in world views on that particular issue, but that’s just how it is isn’t it?”

It’s not Libras place to tell the girl she’s wrong to feel like she does, likely it’s the elder who is on the wrong side of the glass. To each their own.

Lily avoided eye contact as much as she could with the professor. Her arms were crossed in frustration as she sat in the otherwise empty classroom. If she was looking for an apology, it wasn’t happening. She shouldn’t have to seek forgiveness for standing up for another student.

Libra eyes Lily with a small sigh, her head tilts to the side as the hand that had been supporting it drops to the desk.

“My son gets into fights like this all the time, and I’m going to tell you the same thing I tell him.”

One of the picture frames on her desk is turned around, showing the professor standing with a young man with dark hair and a large set of deer antlers. Libra looks very proud in the photo and now.

“You’re defunding another student, I know why it is you got in the fight. But you should never strike first, get in the way all you want, but don’t swing first. If the fight is going to get physical then let them swing first, it’s self defense that way. And if you have to throw down end it quickly, don’t drag it out.”
