In this awful temperature, Glinda turns pink, a flush blooming over her cheeks and settling deep in her stomach where her breakfast should be sitting had Elphaba not been so focused on getting here early for the light.
“I know, my sweet,” Elphaba drops her crayon for a clock-tick, resting its cool edge on the painting’s cheek. “But I told you not to wear all that.”
“Perhaps we should head back to the studio, then,” she suggests, her voice thick in the summer heat, cloying. She slips a nail between her neck and her collar, tugging for a moment of relief. “You can help me take it off and—”
“Glinda!” Elphaba nearly breaks her crayon, the tip cracked off in a pile of black dust that stains the page.

seeing more and more people say that eternal sunshine is about repairing her relationship with her father and that's sweet and all but i'm really gonna need y'all to examine why you feel that all art has to revolve around a man in some way
Do you think your favorite ships (of any and all fandoms) would get married? Why or why not?
potentially unpopular opinion is that actually very few of my favorite ships would make it all the way down the aisle due to the fact that i latch onto ships that are very i would jump in front of semi-truck for you and yet i cannot define who you are to me.
so what i liked blurred lines!! so what i like a relationship that is so complicated it evades labels and words!! i will own that this is who i am, this is a core part of me. it's beautiful and messy and queer and lends a fun extra texture to the fact that all of my favorite ships are non-canonical and must operate between the lines!!
also for a lot of my favorite ships, including gelphie and emisue, i think marriage has a loaded meaning that both parties would reject. like i do love bridezilla glinda as much as the next reader, but i believe that marriage and wifehood have been such a restrictive force in glinda's life she wouldn't ever even really think to equate that institution with her feelings for elphaba. (and emily, well. we sort of know her views on the matter.)
anyway i actually wrote about this exactly in gelphie-verse, but i sort of feel it's true for a lot of the ladies i love or have loved. ♡
unfortunately we do have to remain fake/real married for a year before we can get divorced
upon hearing this and offering up a very sincere *gulp* i present to you a list of things you can do in the next 365 days to make your accidental fake real marriage go by more quickly:
go on a honeymoon. tell absolutely everyone around you that you're newlyweds and reap the benefits of the heteropatriarchy while you're at it aka enjoy free chocolate and champagne and the love of the random old women that you run into at the airport who are trying to re-live their youth through your perceived love.
actually you don't even need to do this abroad. tell every bartender and waitress you come across. i NEED you to acquire free things for your suffering.
write thank you notes to everyone who did not attend your real fake wedding and did not get gifts for your real fake wedding, being sure to make them feel guilty so that they do end up sending you a toaster and/or writing a check. you see, i'm mostly motivated by getting you financial compensation for your troubles.
buying the hell out of some mr. & mrs. monogrammed items. i'm talking pillowcases. washcloths. luggage. i'm aware you likely don't live together. good. separated mrs. and mr. items in two separate apartments really adds to the bit.
go to jcpenney and take professional wedding photos that you can then print out and obnoxiously post throughout your homes. use said photos for thank you notes.
go with each other to family functions and holidays, being sure to introduce one another as husband and wife. depending on your place of employment, the office may be fair game as well. zero explanation. uncle rick and ben from accounting should be confused.
post all of the above to facebook with the utmost earnestness for the entire year (#happywifehappylife, #newlyweds, #ourmarriagejourney), including an obnoxious countdown to your one year anniversary. amass a large following of tradwife wannabes, making hundreds of thousands on brand deals. then, when the one year anniversary arrives, dramatically reveal that you are, in fact, getting a divorce. let the fandom unravel. milk the attention. i'm talking a podcast called "what went wrong." a stunt casting on broadway, perhaps. a line of poorly made custom cocktail mix. you get the picture. she's a mogul, folks!

Glinda hadn’t meant to say it — at least, not so starkly. But she couldn’t be too mad at herself, not when Elphaba’s response was to blush quite wonderfully. The heat of her cheeks spread through the whole room until Glinda had to press her nails into the stool’s leather to hold still.
Glinda, Elphaba breathed. The sun was nearly set by then, the oranges and pinks of twilight passing over Elphaba and turning her radiant.

As for recommendations! Well! I've got lots! I don't really tend toward unhappy endings for long-form angst, so most of this list definitely leans humorous/sweet (but not saccharine!)
To start us off--some longstanding recommendations I don't see talked about enough.
The Heart and Other Furies by @onepettythief is a creation I verrrry proudly watched come to life for the Gelphie Big Bang last year as a beta, and it is to-die-for Shiz Era bookverse, featuring Galinda as a werewolf. Highly recommend.
'Study' Partners by GenericOregairuFan is, again, Shiz Era bookverse, and an absolutely fantastic romantic comedy that made me laugh out loud many times.
Shakes all over like a jellyfish by gunkymonkey is literally such a joy to read and their attention to prose is Quite Enjoyable, if I do say so. Movieverse gelphie.

her face is a map of the world by @sunflowersappho which had me VERKLEMPT at sweet sweet Elphaba at the end. Devil wears Prada movieverse au!
Birds by the snow (librarian movieverse au) and Color and light (Sunday in the Park with George AU) by @flabbergasties who continues to stun and amaze me constantly. Color and light is very new and very amazing already and Birds by the snow actually changed my life.
Last but certainly not least: anything, everything, all the things by my dear friend @loniceravine. Her writing never fails to delight me, and I've read everything minus It Was Today (and Not Tomorrow) which I am shamefully only halfway through (so far! I WILL be finishing it!) but it has literally altered my brain chemistry, changed me for good, made me a better more interesting person, etc. This is the movie/musicalverse that comforts me when the end of WFG seems too bleak.
This is a fairly long list, but hey, I never claimed to be concise! And if anyone ever wants to chat fic, these or others, I'm always around and game! And I AM still writing, also, as a last update! 25k into my latest project (fake engagement au!) and I can't wait to share it, probably at the end of the summer.

hello! The TLDR of the story is that we were planning a fake wedding to fulfil someone’s dying wish. And this person wanted to be one of the witnesses to signing the official documents. We filed our intention to ‘marry’ in time but we didn’t know they’d make us sign the documents there and then on the wedding day. According to our research you had a week to sign it in case you changed your mind. Nope. They changed the rules. But we had already gone through an actual (fake, extremely small courthouse) wedding and we thought we’d at least have time to revoke it before it was filed. Also nope. So now we’re married.
anon, i'm like so sad that this is an accidental straight marriage, do you know how good of a love story this would be if it were an accidental gay marriage? like i'm writing the fanfic in my head as we speak.
also this is very funny and extremely unfortunate, but if it's any consolation you can now carry the title of hot divorcée without too many of the negative consequences that come with actually being a hot divorcée. which is arguably a huge win for you.
