“Your Version of Me” is not so academic that it works in 5/4 time. However, its still studied as fuck - that rhythm guitar is syncopated in a way that I can’t imagine what it might possibly be like to lay down vocals on top of them. The drums are doing this weird syncopation thing that sounds almost like there are appogiaturas in every measure, which, NO, no way there can’t possibly be. And that’s right. There aren’t. It’s just an incredibly talented musician hitting those beats, those notes, and that melody - an amalgam of difficult parts, bound to be more difficult to put together live.
