Linhardt never knew what compelled him to nap at the training grounds today, but he made sure to note to never nap there again. His best friend’s loud shouts could be heard throughout the monastery, disturbing the peace of any unlucky nappers.
Linhardt groaned as he sat up, resting against the wall as he rubbed his eyes. “Caspar please, I am trying to sleep,” he let out a small whine even though he had dealt with this his entire life.
“Maybe if you spent less energy shouting and more on your form you should see better results,” Linhardt knew this advice was futile, but he was cranky from being woken up from his nap.
“Yeah, yeah.” Caspar grumbles.
After ten years, Caspar became well acquainted with the sound of Linhardt’s whines. Especially since they were usually directed at him.
Caspar reaches into his pocket, retrieving a slab of chalk. He dusted his hands with it. “There.” He tucks it away. Now he shouldn’t have any problems with his grip.
Bringing his axe up, he readies his aim once again.
“But that's not what's important right now.” Another loud thunk echoes through the training grounds. “What are you doing here? You almost never come here!” More straw is added to the ever growing pile on the floor.
“I don't think it's even safe to nap here. What if you get hit by something? Like an arrow or uh—” Caspar looks at the axe lodged in the dummy’s chest. Chills are sent down his spine as he thinks about his best friend in that context. “Er, nevermind… But my point is it’s dangerous here!”

With all his might, Caspar swung his axe at the training dummy in-front of him.
"Urrraaah!" A loud thunk could be heard throughout the training grounds.
Any experienced axe user could tell that Caspar’s technique needed work. Posture poor and his swing held too much force. Brute strength alone wouldn't carry him far.
Caspar wipes the sweat off his forehead. Trying to remember how long he's been here. His head throbs, making the time difficult to recall. From the way his muscles ache he briefly considers taking a break. Yet his heart resisted, dissuading him, pushing him forward.
Clumps of straw fell to the ground as he extracts his axe. It’s becoming harder to get a proper grip. Caspar stares at the dummy, silently debating whether or not he should continue his training. Too deep in thought to pay attention to his surroundings.
