A bucket list trip for us - a chance to fish the Dt Lawrence river and for dinosaur fish. The night was filled with action - fish were jumping all around the boat and we managed to land a few BIG fish.

French River Camping / Fishing

A trip we booked months in advanced to the French river for a weekend of camping and fishing was all set for disaster - rain, rain and more rain. Nothing like camping out in the rain and fishing in the....rain.

It turned out we booked a campground from a place in wolseley bay where all they had was only one campground. The rest were reserved for Trailers.

Each year, the trailer park hosts a fish fry and with our luck, the owners had put up a canopy tent for the following weeks fish fry. With all the rain coming down, he had offered us to set up our tents underneath. We pounced on that offer and it just made tenting out luxurious! After setting up our tents that Thursday evening, we had just enough time to eat have a few drinks and get a good nights sleep.

The next morning, we headed down bright and early down to the boat docks where we jumped into our rental for the weekend. The weather was a bit gray, but after several hours the clouds broke and it was sunshine all day. Our luck the next day, weather wise wasn't as good, however the fishing was consistent. We caught Pike, bass and walleye and did so at a pretty consistent rate. Catching them on topwater, crank baits, harnesses and jigs. All and all it was a prettty decent weekend considering what it could have been with all the rain.
