Film by Eric Minh Swenson. Music by Noah Woodburn Tim Bavington is a Las Vegas based artist known most for his auto-gun sprayed paintings composed after specific sequences of music. Titles after songs, both popular and obscure, the works are a result of transposing music into paint by assigning each note a particular color. Each painting's palette is produced by combination of a 12 hue color wheel and music's 12 tone chromatic scale. The width of each painted band corresponding to the note's length within the sequence. In other series, he creates opportunities to combine both his music and painting influences. His approach to abstraction is informed by such diverse experiences as working as a freelance illustrator for The Simpsons, his study of Bridget Riley's optical paintings of the 1960s, the art of California conceptual artist Ed Ruscha, as well as the southwestern desert and neon landscape of the Las Vegas Strip.
