"Dark, my dearest doe, you should be resting, not putting up party decorations."
Alastor had just returned to the hotel after an overlord meeting, which he hoped would be the last before the baby was due. He hadn't expected to walk in and find the mother of his child putting up decorations for the baby shower Charlie had insisted on throwing for them.
"The others are more than capable of doing this, you have enough work to do keeping our our fawn safe and sound for a little longer."
He gently but firmly guided his very pregnant lover to one of the more comfortable chairs in the hotel lobby.
Dark pouted as she was guided down to sit in the chair. "I just feel a bit useless right now. After the 5th month I haven't been allowed to use even my void tendrils without there being a problem. It stinks. Wish I could just hide in one of our realms the rest of the time sometimes." She sighed before lightly touching her stomach, not able to believe that things have been smooth the entire time...almost the entire time, at least. "How was the meeting? Did you tell that TV head in a 'kind' way to stop slandering and cursing us? Or did he not even show up?" Dark felt a hit to her stomach with a little shadow coming out in a faint bit of smoke, and shook her head before moving Alastors' hand to her stomach. "They wanted to say welcome back, I guess."

Alastor felt the baby kick again underneath his palm and chuckled. He knelt in front of Dark, making him eye level with the swell of her stomach. "Hello little fawn, Papa missed you too." He leaned forward, placing tge lightest of kisses against Dark's stomach, before lifting his gaze to her.
"The meeting was mostly tedious, discussions of territory rearrangements and the like, nothing particularly important." The subject of Vox, however, broadend his grin. "Unfortunately, Vox couldn't make it. He sent Velvette instead. I asked her to pass on an invitation to our little soiree later. I'm sure Vox would love to congratulate us in person."
@firstdarkangel2001
"This is going to be such a spectacle... I feel like he's going to enjoy trying to make something happen that will spin it to his needs and also make him look like such a 'tragic' person." Dark laughed a little, and gently moved a hand through Alastors' hair. "I am still amazed though... that we are having this little fawn."
Dark heard a slight crash before Niffty laughed, and it caused her to shake her head. "We will have to keep our little one away from Niff for a while. They'll already be insane enough just with our combined insanities." She giggled a bit. Hearing Charlie overreacting and trying her best to not yell or sound panicked gave an ever better reason to laugh. "The amazing life of chaos we have when we're not causing it... I'm jealous." Dark smiled then, and looked down at Alastor.
@demonic-radio-host
"I'm sure it will be thoroughly entertaining to watch Vox find ways to victimise himself in a room full of people celebrating our child. I might even wonder if he wishes he was in your place, my love." Though he said it with a chuckle, Alastor was not blind to how dangerous Vox could be when he was jealous; of course, he would not have invited the media overlord if he thought there was even a chance of him laying a single clawed finger on Dark - Alastor would rip him to shreds before the thought even left his mind.
"Just imagine the chaos we'll cause as a family, my darling doe. A few more weeks is worth it for that, isn't it? Now, have you eaten yet? Whatever you're craving, your every wish is my command."
@firstdarkangel2001
She laughed, and nodded. "I can indeed imagine him doing that, and I'm glad I managed to do the impossible just being my chaotic self." She had a strange thought that, if Alastor hadn't told Vox 'no' in his own special way those decades ago, he would've tried endlessly to be with Alastor. Dark tapped a finger on her chin, her wondering, and though she didn't feel a craving for anything, nor was really hungry, she knew she should eat.
"I think this time we eat something you'd like to eat. That's my wish. I know I need to eat, but I have no cravings for anything, so I leave it to the expert southern chef for your culinary divinity." She grinned, her touching his nose for half a second. "Though, because there's only about a month left, we should figure out the name of our fawn. So, maybe before the baby shower, we talk of that, or do you want to wait until after the gender reveal?"
@demonic-radio-host
There were few things Alastor loved more in both his life and afterlife than cooking, and cooking for Dark had become even more special when it meant he was feeding her and their baby. "In that case, you are in luck, sweetheart. I started a jambalaya this morning, my Mamman's special recipe. It should be almost ready by now."
He helped her to her feet, a steadying hand at the small of her back as it so often was these days. "Maybe we should eat in the kitchen? I know Charlie wanted to have some element of surprise around the party preparations." Ideally he would have just shadow magicked them to their destination, but while neither of them could be sure it wouldn't harm the child it wasn't worth the risk for the sake of a few steps.
"I don't see any harm in discussing names before the reveal, then we can announce the name tonight as well if we choose one. Did you have anything in mind yet, my love?"
@firstdarkangel2001
"You sly buck, you. You already were preparing food for me before asking." Dark laughed a little. "I'm glad I can learn of Mamman through the food you cook, love." She walked with him to the kitchen, knowing it was better to walk than transport like normal. It was, in a way, also more intimate because of the norm being teleportation. "You know, maybe this isn't bad to do on occasion even after our fawn is born. To just have a walk without a care for anything or anyone. Outside of us walking with our baby."
Sitting down at the kitchen island, she took in the smell of the jambalaya, and smiled with a sigh. "Mamman knew the best recipes to fatten a person up." She rubbed her stomach a little. "So, for names... I actually have a couple, but I'm not sure on if they would be good or not. I want to hear your ideas first though. I know you're very intelligent, mister master manipulator." She teased with a grin.
She heard Charlie practically vibrating with the excited way she spoke, and shook her head with a laugh, hearing Vaggi/Vagene try to calm her down with barely any success. Because of the two, she knew it was going to be ready within three hours, right on time for everyone to get there. With her and Alastor about to eat, it was perfect timing, and she was glad of it. While waiting, Dark decided to draw small doodles of chaos and the things that she had made for fun in her realm.
@demonic-radio-host
Once he'd made sure Dark was seated as comfortably as she could be, Alastor turned his attention to the large pot of jambalaya that had been slowly cooking all day. As was usual when he cooked, there was more than enough for anyone else who wished to share - he knew for certain that Charlie and Vagene would have some later, and probably Lucifer, too.
"My dear Mamman was always taking care of people. What little we had she would share with anyone who needed it." He tested the food while he talked, deeming it perfect and turning off the stove. "She was so many things to so many people; a cook, a teacher, a nurse, a confidant. I have no doubt she would have loved to pass on her recipes to you, especially for her grandchild."
He dished up two bowls, setting one in front of Dark, along with a glass of water, then did the same for himself. "I do have one name suggestion, if I may. If the baby happens to be a girl, my Mamman's name was Claire. Not only would it honour her, but it also has a delightful irony to it, your name being Dark, while Claire means clear and bright."
@firstdarkangel2001
"I love the name for a girl, and I enjoy the irony, too." She gave a soft laugh, and took a deep inhale of the jambalaya before sighing with a grin. "I think that I would've loved her in an instant, and chat a lot with her. To find out more about the area, the culture, and even perhaps what she did to keep you in line sometime." Dark gave a mischievous look to him, but then started to eat.
She made sure to clear her mouth before speaking again. "I'd imagine that I would've been hit with the wooden spoon many times in trying to get it perfectly right. I can cook, but not as good as this. You're doing your Mamman proud." She took a sip of water, and looked at him for a moment, her just enjoying the calm at the moment without anyone running around or causing chaos right next to them. "I think, for a boys' name, we could go with either Darien or Lucien. I thought of Damian, but wasn't sure on it."
Soon enough, there was an audible noise that made a couple of the crew members go silent, and Charlie start to talk of welcoming someone to the hotel, but wasn't as over the top happy like normal. She sounded actually to have a forced cheer when speaking to the ones than came in, and Dark knew who entered. "I guess the Vees are here now."
@demonic-radio-host
Alastor had sensed the arrival of the Vees before they'd even made it to the door; Vox tended to give off a low frequency signal that clashed with Alastor's own radio frequency, it was equally annoying and useful. "Well. They're just going to have to wait for the guest of honour, my love." He lifted Dark's hand for a moment, pressing a kiss to her knuckles.
"As for names, of those choices, Darien would be my personal preference. Lucien is a little too close to your adopted father's name for my liking - that doesn't mean I would be against it if that was your choice, of course." Alastor would love their child no matter what, though he wasn't sure he'd be able to stand Lucifer's crowing about the baby being named similarly to him.
There was a little more commotion, and the sound of new voices joining those of their friends and the Vees; this time, it was Rosie and Carmilla - and judging from the nervous sound greetings from Charlie and the others, Zestial was with them.
@firstdarkangel2001
Giggling, Dark nodded. "Then, if it's a boy, it'll be Darien. I can't wait to know of if it's a boy or girl fawn, my love." She found herself laughing when hearing the awkward greetings because of Zestials' presence, and soon just kissed Alastors' cheek. "I'll finish eating real quick if you want to torment the guests we have. I won't make myself choke either. I don't need any problems because of being so close to the due date."
Outside of the dining area, the Overlords were all gathering, lounging or looking around. Rosie made sure to put down a gift that was slightly heavy, but she moved it around as if like air. Zestial only placed a small black box on the table, not speaking to the others for the moment, sipping some tea. Velvette looked around the place, making faces from it looking tacky and not modern enough to her tastes. She took a couple of photos, posting them only to make fun of the decor, memes immediately popping up on her device as well.
Angel Dust ended up knocking on the dining table door for their attention, dropping his voice to whisper towards Alastor and Dark. "Smiles, make sure ya keep close to Dark. Val ain't lookin' pleased at being here, so he might start somethin'. I doubt the Vees are here for good reasons, but now my boss is lookin' mad, so it might be worse. Dark, stay at his hip. Don't want nothin' happenin' to your baby or you."
@demonic-radio-host
Alastor had been about to do as Dark suggested and greet their guests. However, Angel Dust's warning changed his mind. While he was in no way surprised that the Vees would be looking for trouble - the entertainment value in provoking them was part of the reason he invited them after all - even the Radio Demon didn't take lightly how unpredictable Valentino could be.
"While I appreciate the warning, there really is no need to worry, I have no intention of letting this beauty out of my sight, or more than a step away from my side." And any time Dark did stray even a step away, his shadow would be there, ready to protect her and the baby. "The guests can, and will, wait my love; this party is for you, after all, not them."
Alastor finished his food, listening to bits and pieces of Dark and Angel's conversation, but mostly his ears were focused on the party guests, and the sounds of Vox's growing agitation at being kept waiting. Once Dark had finished eating, Alastor rose and held out his arm, ready to help her to her feet.
"Shall we go and put our guests out of their misery, my love? Maybe you could let them know we're on our way, Angel?" Alastor turned his gaze towards the spider sinner.
"Sure thing, Smiles. See ya in a minute, toots."
@firstdarkangel2001
Dark couldn't help in making sure the last bite was slower on purpose, a wide grin on her face because of then making them wait an extra few moments, and stood up with his aid. She took a couple of steps back to at least put the dishes in the sink, and nuzzled his shadow very slightly in appreciation of the protection as well before then going back to Alastor, holding his arm once more. "Let's do this darling, and enjoy people losing their absolute minds at seeing the first non-hellborn to be pregnant up close."
She leaned against his arm all the way until they were about to open the door to see everyone. From there, she stood straight, keeping elegance with an undertone of her normal chaotic self. Coming to the lobby, she looked at the overdone decorations completely, and hid a laugh with her hand. "Geez...it's even more insanely overdone than I thought." She saw the crew, the Overlords, then lastly the Vees.
Rosie smiled widely. "Still such a lady even with a bun in the oven that's almost done. Alastor, you should bring them over for some proper outfits sometime. Stacy has the fingers that will make your child look absolutely darling." Velvette scoffed. "Well, when they want to look old before they hit one, I'm sure they can go to your little shop. I got just the designs that will give them a newer look that's trending for the next 3 days." Zestial gave a faint nod with a raised tea cup to give a congratulations and hello towards the two.
@demonic-radio-host
"Ladies, perhaps we could leave our child's sartorial options until they're actually born?" Alastor quipped, amusement lacing his tone. His hand came to rest at the small of Dark's back while they made their way through the crowd of guests. He caught Vox out of the corner of his eye and very pointedly ignored him. "Charlie! You've really outdone yourself with the decorations!" The sarcasm was only half meant, and of course, Charlie being her usual naive self, she missed it entirely.
"Aw, thank you, Alastor! It's not every day that we get to celebrate something so special."
Alastor guided Dark to one of the lobby couches, always being mindful of how long she'd been on her feet. "Please sit, my love. Husker, a drink for the guest of honour!" It had been hard to find in Hell, but a few bottles of nonalcoholic 'champagne' had been acquired for the evening.
Vox had carefully moved closer to the couch where Alastor had now taken a seat next to Dark, Valentino rolling his eyes and muttering under his breath before he stalked off to go and take his frustrations out on Angel Dust.
@firstdarkangel2001
Dark kept herself close to Alastor while they sat on the lobby couch, and was glad to see non-alcoholic champagne. "Perfectly done to find champagne I can drink, mon chéri. Classy and tasteful." She took a sip of the drink, keeping alert because of Vox getting closer to where they sat. She heard the sound of a shutter clicking, and looked at Velvette before smiling widely. "Making sure to get the best shots, huh?"
Velvette nodded with another click of a picture. "Gonna be the talk of the town for at least a couple of weeks. Maybe months if it's gonna be that crazy here."
Dark gave another smile, then looked at Vox, not trusting him for a moment now that he was closer to them. "Welcome to the celebration of not only the first child born from a sinner and being of Void and Chaos, but also Alastors', at that." She wanted to rub salt into his wounds for fun.
Rosie took a sip of champagne herself, a smile crossing her features as she did so. She was curious of how this verbal match was going to go.
Vaggi worked on getting the cake to be ready, knowing where to cut it to reveal the gender. She had to make sure Charlie didn't rainbow color it all, and watched the interaction carefully in case something went away.
