Natasha gets picked over him because they send four of them home to create collections, and he picks poorly on the ones he presents, not showing enough range.

Natasha: The group's youngest designer, that creates sleek, practical looks with an edge. Her designs are mostly flawless technically but she is often criticized for not having her own point of view. Barely makes it to fashion week.

Bucky: He's usually the first to finish and people joke he's bionic. He sends perfectly tailored garments down the runway using fabrics that shouldn't work, but absolutely do. He should have won.
