flip flop... welcome back.
In my opinion, I think Noah's only problem is that he needs to regain his presence. He's been away from the screen and the stage for a long time, but I think that him starting to do theater now will help a lot in that aspect because he already gives himself over to his acting and manages to be vulnerable, and if it weren't for that, many scenes wouldn't work.
I agree that he should work on maximizing his exposure in entertainment (film, tv, theatre) and adjacent spaces (fashion). However, it depends on what he wants to do with his career.
He could be ambitious, looking to work with prestigious filmmakers. He could also prefer to work on whatever "speaks to him" as an artist. Over the past year or so, it does seem like his team is making more shrewd choices.
Regardless, it would be prudent to get a start on improving those key performance indicators (KPIs). Brands and studios rely on those metrics, like media impact value (MIV), when assessing star power. They want to secure profitability.
Thoughts on Mr. Schnapp making his post-ST debut on stage this fall? I think he has the potential to be a good actor but the older he got, the more insecure he became and it really bled out on screen; his performance last season was a bit wooden. I’m curious if he’ll prove the naysayers wrong.
I don't agree with your assessment of his performance, but we can agree to disagree. In general, the online feedback on his performance is so contradictory. It makes one wonder... Anyways, Noah is too expressive to be classified as wooden. Even with confusing choices (ex. the barn scene at the beginning of 4x04), the direction is to blame. Ultimately, very few of Will's S5 scenes would've been possible without Noah's willingness to be vulnerable and bold.
Currently, there's not much to say about his stage debut. He's employed despite the promises of Etsy witches, Pop Base, and X-itters. And they're moving the goalposts as expected. Those who are rejoicing in the semantics of having an on- or off-West End run are misguided and tacky, but that's to be expected in an era of pop culture that fixates on superficial criteria.
Upon skimming the article, I noted some potential issues, but those are based on my prior experiences seeing plays inspired by true events and centered on these themes. Andy Sandberg, the director and writer, is experienced although not super well-known, with a background in writing the social behaviors of "the elite". Check out Application Pending or Craving for Travel. Based on his prior material, Affluenza will likely be comedic in nature, so watching Noah exercise that muscle and play a dual role sounds interesting.
He's taking a role dissimilar to Will Byers, and that's a good thing. I think people should focus more on whether Andy Sandberg can deliver an excellent show (writing and direction-wise), instead of Noah's ability to perform. This is original material that, from what I could tell, hasn't been vetted in prior runs, unlike John Proctor Is the Villain.
