meanwhile, when one of the main purposes sounds like it’s to see how many people die, that’s a pretty drastic change in motives. anyone who gets wasted there, i don’t think they’ll be happy to learn that. i don’t know if many of them will be able to agree with why they’re there, rather than how it is with sburbsim with “oh well okay, weird, so that’s what this is, time to abuse this newfound power!” being the reaction most of the time. (right?)

basically, just. i’m worried about the wastes in there. i don’t think they’ll be happy with anyone who sets up or plays around with a murder game. or... whatever the sim is.

...oh! hey, i just had a good idea. instead of a death sim to learn morals, have a judging sim! it’d be quick, require very little involvement from the simulated people, just ask them if a certain decision is morally alright or not, and if most of them agree you’re probably fine! the chances of a handful of random people’s moral compasses all collectively being corrupted is probably low, especially if you ask them pretty early on. maybe ask them multiple times throughout their adventures for more points of comparison! besides, people love answering questions! it wouldn’t change a whole lot for them, so it’d be really similar to sburbsim. the motive sounds weird but fine, so the wastes probably wouldn’t get super mad... there ya go!

both rage and hope revolve around what a person believes in- but its a little hard getting the differences between the two for me. what does rage symbolize? what does hope symbolize? how are they different?

it’s hard to be mad that something isn’t true. not unless other people believe it *should* be true, and you disagree.

it’s too easy to think of ways things could be better, a lot of the time. when things do get better, it’s always just another step to forget, and focus on the next improvement.

so... for rage, belief is reserved for the truth. not necessarily the knowable, or understandable, but the meat and true essence of what’s going on. which (judging by how hard it is to predict the weather, for example) is a pretty complicated beast.

hope’s belief then is for what comes next- belief that things will be better soon, or believing the things that hurt and are true aren’t worth believing in. if you can understand the weather, and you know that in a week a hurricane will blow through, why would you accept that? why wouldn’t you fight back, and change how it’s going to be?

so then... in that theoretical metaphor, belief would be the weather- a mess of true and untrue things,... no, i don’t think that makes sense. ugh.
