Hi, I'm Ainsley or whatever else you want to call me. I'm 21 (as of writing this in 2025, indubitably I shall forget to update it) and use any pronouns. My interests include biology, art, fursuiting, and Fallen London (I'm sure nobody guessed that one). I'm a little socially awkward but I don't bite. My main is @redtailcatfish, it's kinda spammy.

I think my tagging system is fairly intuitive (when I remember to use it lol) but for completion's sake I'll give a brief overview.
My OCs are tagged by their alias if they have one, just their name if they don't have one. All OC tags are at the bottom of this post for your convenience.
non-oc content is tagged '#general lore discussion' but honestly I don't like that tag name so expect it to change.
Canon characters are tagged with whatever they're most often referred to as unless I arbitrarily decide I want to tag them as something else, and also generally tagged as #canon characters.
In general, I'm not going to add content warnings other than spoilers for any canon or canon-adjacent content unless there's a CW in-game, such as for parts of Evolution. I don't expect to be posting anything particularly racy, but sexual humor/imagery will be tagged with #nsft.

Carlotta Linnea Tebrick
Alias: The Transmogrified Naturalist
Carlotta was cast out to the Neath after a strange encounter resulted in her waking up with the face of a fox. She is slowly transforming into a fox. Her body hair is becoming coarser and gingery, her nails are sharper, and her personality is becoming more impulsive and aggressive. She spends much of her time in the Neath trying to reverse this process, but she has also been caught up with Revolutionaries. She spends a lot of time in her University Laboratory and takes interest in the Shapeling Arts and Red Science. She has a bit of a laudanum problem due to her constant nightmares

A surly Rattus Faber mechanic with an impressive array of tattoos. Who in their right mind agrees to tattoo a rat?
She primarily works maintaining Carlotta’s zubmarine. Carlotta doesn’t pay the best, but she’s a nice girl, and the Tattooed Rat struggles to get hired by more respectable folk. Carlotta also lets the rat say at her lodgings when the weather’s not good.
Master Shades
It needs an actual ref but this'll do for now
Mr Shades was formerly a Master of the Bazaar, but defected in favor of revolution and the Liberation of Night due to a Name. It keeps the title of “Master” both ironically and out of habit. It wears a simple dark grey/black cloak.
It knows the Name, but the other Masters used Discordant Law on it to prevent it from speaking it. It encourages young revolutionaries to seek the name. It appears not to remember what happens to them when they do.
Master Baits
I'm only a little bit kidding
Mr Baits is the Master of the Bazaar in charge of Unterzee fishing, fishing supplies, and boats. It functions somewhere between a game warden and a mafia boss. It is elderly but more spry than it looks, and it can often be found performing spot checks on fishing boats to make sure that all fish are of proper size and all supplies were purchased legally (from Baits!). Most Londoners struggle to to take it seriously for obvious reasons, but if you had to choose a Master to hang out with, Baits is certainly one of the more pleasant ones. It is cordial but not very talkative unless you would like to hear about fish.

Nobody is really sure what this thing is. It's believed to belong to a group of urchins. It uses its robotic arm to pick pockets and steal people's Rubbery Lumps.

hold on i need to check something- okay so im getting mixed signals on whether or not fruit scented 100% liquid shampoo as we understand it existed all the way back in ye olde 1800s victorian london. best i can tell it wasn't widely commercially available until the turn of the century, which fallen london pointedly avoids. ☝️ However. as a master and a nobleman and a generally very very very rich londoner the scoundrel is not bound by conventional commercial limits. so what im saying is yeah sure he can chug shampoo. why not. if it doesn't exist yet im sure the masters have some kind of similar soap-adjacent substance for their own fur.

Do you suppose it's fashionable in (Fallen) London to make up your face to look like you've been in the sun?
In the actual period, of course, being as fair as possible was desirable in England--the upper classes going so far as to walk around with parasols and wide-brimmed hats, or earlier in the century, cloth masks, and there was, of course, always the option to simply powder one's face. All these things were representative of wealth--not needing to labor outdoors, being able to afford powders and fanciful hats and such. But in the Neath, out of the sun, everyone is paler than those on the Surface. Maybe it would be more fashionable to try to look sun-kissed? Heavy blush might become popular. Darker powders to make skin look tanned or more robust. Again--all symbolic of wealth. Can you afford these cosmetics? Do you have the time and light and mirrors or a servant to apply them?
It might not be all that popular among the Bazaarines or the Nocturnals, but the Celestials? The nobility still clinging to the power and influence of the Surface? I can see it becoming a cornerstone of fashion.

oh in terms of actual canon the answer is definitely yes. but for the sake of comedy it's funnier if they make upset squeaky toy noises when you point an airhorn at them
