I’ve been meaning to post this for a while now! Team RWBY if they were Night in The Woods characters

Did anyone say Pokémon??????

Their teams and extra Pokémon:

Ruby - Scyther, Zoroark, Decidueye, Roserade, Lurantis, Garchomp | Inteleon, Togekiss, Bisharp

Weiss - Gardevoir, Ninetales(Alolan), Ceruledge, Glaceon, Altaria, Empoleon | Lucario, Primarina, Froslass, Flapple

Now, for anyone that wants to read, here’s the shortened backstory I came up with for them. I apologise, it’s pretty long and might not make sense because I’m not the best at English.

When they met, Weiss wanted nothing to do with Pokémon trainers. She saw them as brutes who mistreated their Pokémon. It was mostly due to the fact that ever since she was a child, she was forced into competing in Pokémon contest's, a much gentler sport that still took a lot of work to perfect.

Weiss' first Pokémon was a shiny Ralts, since every Schnee received a "family pet" when they were young to show off their status. She got it at 7, though she soon received a Swablu and a Poplio to be her singing/performance partners. They weren't officially her Pokémon, at least not yet, but she grew close to them.

During her 11th birthday, she received a Riolu from Winter, saying she needed it more than she did after what happened with the family. So naturally, Weiss grew up with a lot of Pokémon around, only adding onto her distaste for Trainers. She basically spent her childhood more around Pokémon than actual human beings.

Meanwhile Ruby grew up obsessed with strategy and Pokémon battles, ever since she was little she was researching moves, abilities, or even just Pokémon behaviour.

It might have came from the fact that almost everyone in her family was a Pokémon trainer, especially her mother who went missing when she was young. And so, Ruby followed in her footsteps, getting her first Pokémon at 10(though she spent time with Pokémon ever since she was born, they had a family Yamper and both Summer and Tai let their Pokémon free around their kids). A Scyther that her uncle helped her catch.

Almost everyone freaked out when they saw a little girl with such an intimidating Pokémon. A lot of people worried about her safety but she quickly bonded with him and if anything, her Scyther was the one protecting her from danger.

When she was 15 and Yang was 17, they set out to explore the world and try to get various gym badges. (Tai didn't want them to start adventuring at 10 like a lot of Pokémon trainers, mostly because he didn't want them to end up like Summer. Yang was fine to start at 14/15 but she wanted to wait for Ruby so they could go together.)

When they met, Weiss almost got cut in half by Ruby's Scyther. This only served to strengthen Weiss' dislike of trainers, even as both Yang and Ruby were apologising to her. Though, Ruby quickly got distracted by Weiss' shiny Ralts as she had never seen a shiny before. She unsuccessfully tried to strike up a conversation to find out more about it, ending up offending Weiss who couldn't fathom someone not knowing who she was.

She did get a bit curious herself as she noticed that Yang and Ruby's Pokémon seemed to.. love them. Despite all the battles they're being put through. That confused her.

As much as Weiss wished it would be the end of her encounters with the strange girl, the two kept meeting. Weiss began listening to stories about being a Pokémon trainer and she was intrigued. Mostly because of the possibility of freedom from her father, the obligations. As much as she liked singing, she didn't like performing for an audience, at least not when she was told to do it. So just adventuring with her beloved Pokémon sounded.. nice.

She was still pretty adamant about not becoming a Pokémon trainer when she joined Ruby and Yang. She was just an adventurer who threw away her luxurious life for freedom.

But as she travelled with them, she began noticing how being a trainer didn't mean just forcing your Pokémon to battle. It was hard for her to admit she was wrong but soon she gave in and allowed Ruby to start guiding her through Pokémon battles.

Her Pokémon were happy to start battling, it was something new and enriching for them, they were getting used to it as much as Weiss was.

And as Ruby slowly taught her the basics, Weiss started falling for her. Late nights staying up studying type weaknesses and resistances, battling, even just feeding their Pokémon together. Weiss didn't even realise when she started feeling that way.

Ruby began reciprocating the feelings around the same time, though it took her a bit longer to realise it. They always made excuses to be near eachother, or to train together. Yang and later Blake honestly knew it before they did.
