It's the knit!

When life gives you a Knitted Action Figure sized Polaroid camera (which might just happen to be a keychain):

You have to come up with an excuse to use it… because I honestly can’t justify the next picture in any other way:

I took Guy on a trip to visit Santa today. He dressed up specially!

He liked the comfy seats on the train. Plenty of leg room for him.

But this was not what we wanted to find.

We still stopped by to look at Santa’s Grotto though.

He’s so close!

He went with a friend to help him help her feel brave.

I think Santa was a little bemused by his little visitor (or possibly whatever it was he asked him for)

Pros: Cute ‘n’ cuddly ‘lil Shigaraki of my very own, balances reasonably well, poses well, hasn’t destroyed the house (yet), tiny red shoes:

Cons: Not enough body space for 14 hands so he has to settle for 10, if I never knit another hand again in my life that’d be just great right now, top heavy when he’s at his most handsy.

So, yeah, this is what I’ve been doing while waiting for the blisters on my hands to heal up enough to go back to my embroidery project. Bleeding while sewing tiny black clothes is ok, no one will ever notice if it doesn’t wash out.

@bethama has said soooo many times that I should knit someone with fingers. I’m not sure this is what she had in mind :D

For the benefit of people who have no idea who he is, or what he usually looks like:

Sticking with the theme of experimenting with different things I’ve been working on this:

I borderline convinced myself this was terrible and that I should just give it up at least half a dozen times, but I stuck with it and I’m happy with how it’s come out.

I liked the idea of dragonfly style wings rather than butterfly style and I love how they look now they’re done.

I still need to back this hoop but, for once, I have tidied up the back before taking photos.

I just can’t decide how I feel about this one.

(BTW, while the photos were taken outside, the day is pretty dull and grey so don’t expect awesome photography. It is what it is.)

Is it shit or am I just tired? (Not the first time I’ve asked myself that question)

I’ve attempted to make the body more proportional and shapely than on my previous hoops.

I stayed up waaaaaay too late last night trying to style his hair in a way I deemed acceptable.

Arm close up. I’ve spent A LOT of time being unreasonably paranoid about whether the silver on silver embroidery would show up or not.

Turns out it’s the pink discolouration around the edge of the flesh which isn’t really showing up. Oh well.

My supervisor is unimpressed by my efforts.

No one stopped me so I made another one:

I took him into the garden so I could make the most of the daylight to show his hair off. This being Manchester it didn’t take long to decide to start raining, it did at least have the good grace to wait until I was done before it started.

I’m having fun exploring what I can do with ‘hair’

Having to wait overnight for the fabric paint I coloured his scarf with to dry was a pain in the arse, but the fabric I used for his shirt is soooooo strokeably soft it sort of makes up for it.

This is exactly why I shouldn’t be left on my own:

One vaguely thought through idea and off I run to try my hand at something different.

I still need to tidy up the excess fabric at the back but other than that this 6 inch hoop is complete!

The question now is do I leave it here or do I go make someone else…

One rainbow unicorn done and ready to hang in my daughter’s room.

It’s a 6 inch hoop and was stitched from a kit I bought in Aldi around Christmas.

I smoothed out the blockiness of the original ‘full stitches only’ design with some fractional stitches (just because I prefer it that way)

SInce knitting was out of the question I did a little embroidery instead.

Today I finally found time to turn some of my work into a brooch:

One tiny floofy embroidered bee.

It isn’t quite central but I’m still happy with how it’s come out.

It took me a while to find a decent black light, and even longer to work out where I’d put the lamp with the right fitting so I could move it around to get the most out of the glow effect BUT I finally have pics of my glow in the dark WicDiv teacup!

The decent light has gone but at least the battery has charged up enough to operate the camera.

So, this is what I’ve been working on (instead of doing all the things I really should have been) and completed late last night (10 March ‘18)

I made a cup - which the genuine Feltpool wanted to assist with showing off.

It’s a full size The Wicked and The Divine themed cup and saucer, hand sewn throughout.

Super lightweight too.

All of the white detail stitching has been done with DMC E940 glow in the dark thread, but it’s daylight right now so I can’t show that off.

I’ll see if I can get any halfway decent pics of the glow effect later on. I may need to buy a black light bulb first.

Today, with a great deal of child… erm… assistance, I baked the

(apple) Pie of Agamotto!

You ever get the urge to spend your time* stitching a 6 inch hoop of pointless crossover noone but you wants to see? Me too! So I did :D

In this piece my love of kids cartoon show Hey Duggee meets my love of Twin Peaks.

If it looks like there’s a lot going on here then you’re right. Apart from a little DMC satin thread to add a little extra highlight there’s nothing special threadwise but I threw in satin stitch, stem stitch, chain stitch, long and short stitch, backstitch, weave stitch and even a little roumanian couching.

The background fabric has a very faint pattern on it, it isn’t at all obvious but it stops the background looking too white.

I’m pretty happy with how this has come out.
