the idea of meeting felix’s parents sent fearsome waves throughout her body , settling into the empty part of her bones . she had heard many stories about them from her boyfriend , often accompanied by an irritable tone about their ridiculous personal beliefs on the important and archaic ideas of blood status , in which an eyeroll or two followed suit . it’s an idea she’s shrugged off for the months she’s been rekindled with felix again , a situation she secretly hoped would disappear and never be brought up again . seychelle was the last person in durmstrang to let anyone walk over her , yet the topic of blood made her skin crawl . it was only a problem once for seychelle at school . first year at durmstrang , some rich girl from some famous wizarding family that chelly supposedly was supposed to know about flung the word , that word , to her in the girls bathroom . the shock stuck to her blind , making her knees go weak . it wasn’t enough to stop seychelle from punching the girl in the face , though , and after that no one bothered messing with her again . but this ? this was different . this were the parents of the boy she loved , heads of a family she could enter someday , the ones who wore the last name she had dreams about having . chelly was good with parents , knowing how to woo and charm them with her wit and infectious laughter . but these people were completely out of her league , evident in the air that swirled around their silhouette , the way they held themselves up in any room they walked into while expecting others to lower themselves down to accommodate , the mere essence of them . ❝ hi , i’m seychelle . ❞ her voice is unnaturally soft , almost hesitant . she presents herself as prim and proper as possible , posture upright with a bright smile as she stood close to felix . almost a bit terrified to be anywhere but beside him in the moment . and there it went again , that word , buzzing inside her ears and taking over her head again . chelly digs her nails into her palm , smile faltering away slowly . her heart beats uncomfortably fast soon , so loud she hears it pounding in her eardrums . she wants to push it to the back of her mind , pretend as if she didn’t hear the derogatory term thrown her way again , the mistake in their eyes being her birth . ❝ excuse me ? ❞ seychelle’s breathing is slightly labored , brows knitting together as her lips press into a thin line . ❝ is there something wrong with my blood ? i’m a witch , exactly like you are . ❞ the back of her teeth grinds together in discomfort . top of her class , head cheerleader , one of the brightest witches at durmstrang , and she’s reduced down to being a muggle-born witch .
felix knew just how fierce and bold his girlfriend was and he admired it . it was one of the reasons he was sure he fell for her because it matched his own fire . he had a feeling that she wouldn’t stand for his mother talking down on her and when she did speak up against it , felix silently cheered her on in his head , a small smirk adorning his features as he tried to hold in a snarky chuckle . “ she’s right , mother . there’s no difference between you two . chelly actually happens to be one of the top students here . her grades are way better than mine could ever be . ” it was honestly quite comical to felix that his parents believed so strongly that pureblooded wizards were so superior to everyone else when they had a son who had some of the worst grades at the school and an absence record that made him wonder how he wasn’t completely expelled from durmstrang ( he had a feeling it was just because of his family name ) , while other wizards like chelly excelled in their classes . they were either completely oblivious to that fact or they liked to ignore it because it was much better for their reputation . hearing felix’s words , his mother scoffed and waved away his words . “ i see this is something we continue to disagree on , ” was all she said . he hoped that was it , that they just came to scold him about his grades and then they would leave for the year , but it didn’t seem like either of them were making a move for the exit . “ felix , we came here because we have some exciting news we couldn’t just tell you through a letter . ” it was his father that spoke this time and his gaze flickered over towards him . his father was much more composed than his mother and was able to keep his unnecessary comments to himself more often . still , he had the same views as her . “ we found the perfect future bride for you . she comes from the nicest family and she wants to meet you soon ! ” felix’s eyes shot open in surprise at those words and not in a good way . “ future bride , huh ? there’s no way in hell i’m meeting her . how could you say this in front of chelly ? ”
