turns out all the paths were open, shockingly. the one i was worried about was very close to flooded but not quite! noice. actually very lovely out- for like 3 days of solid grey all day and constant rain its just.... suddenly completely gone completely clear blue sky. gotta love the shadow of the mountain.

My grandma just called and, among other things, said “You have hips. That’s good! Men like hips!” and then she interrupted herself to say “Women like hips. People of your preferred gender like hips. I can never remember” And I was like “Thanks grandma! My preferred gender is none of them, no thanks.” and she was like “Okay, no one will comment on your hips!” very self satisfied, like “aha, I have figured it out” I think like half her grandkids are some variety of not-straight and she can’t always remember which is which but she is the epitome of like “she’s a little confused, but she’s got the spirit!”
Update: I gave it some thought and my estimate was wrong. Of the grandkids that are out, it’s 1/3, not ½

one thing i can pluck in a pure sense of enjoyment is the pervasiveness of human folk mythology. like how many different times people go "what if we made little dieties/creatures/beings out of small moments and items and feelings". also as a vehicle for horror specifically and the duality between like. harmless motifs of loveliness and the ways we can twist them into cruelty? top notch. we do be doing that shit on repeat.
like i remember being a kid when i was just starting to be like. a coherent human and adults started trying to make you Be Something and get weird about art needing to Mean things or Say things and i vividly remember walking home thinking about it and also just like. seeing the sun come through a leaf and being like. Its just THAT. thats what I want from art. and i still dont know how to articulate it because its not about replicating that moment or anything apecific about it theres just this THING that happens sometimes. its inexplicable. but we keep trying to explicit something about it. its fascinating.

i want to be done listening to this book so bad because so much of it hits close to home and also you can like. feel the underlying analogues to real people or experiences warped to underlay the fiction but 2 steps removed and distant and contorted and woven around weirdly and its SO UNCOMFORTABLEEEE . not in a bad way persay just like. voyueristic? but also not? this makes it sound more direct and worse than it is but its just like. twinges. idk.

i figured since yesterday i was cold and my face is flushed this morning maybe walking in the rain made me sick so i dressed in all wool that would normally be a like. -35C outfit. (it is 7+ out). Bad idea. So sweaty.
Also the train was broken and there was a homeless man on it that was. so unfortunately smelly. like the worst ive ever experienced. the whole car tried to move down and my eyes were literally itchy and singey. I really hope the transit cops hooked him up with a community team or something to get him looked at bevause that was not a smell that signals anything good. usually a ripe human doesnt bother me, it was *rough*
was so tired last night i went to bed after making dinner and slept from 9-1 and then 2-6 but i still feel like death and have a headache (probably the storms fault) and i dont wannnaaa go to wooooork
