Happy St.Patrick’s Day! (and a little sneak peek)
Note to self
You yell at yourself because you don’t see potential in your dancing. Your teachers yell at you because they do.
Don’t confuse the two.

Chicago-born dancer will perform with his troupe at Liberty Ball on Friday after organizers had struggled to attract A-list talent to inauguration events
I am so incredibly disappointed in Michael Flatley’s decision to perform at the Trump inauguration. Irish Dance is a dance form that emerged as a response to oppression by the English, fused with African-American styles of tap dance in the nineteenth century, and was a form of expression by and for “the little guy” - exactly the kinds of people Donald Trump criticizes.
Irish dance in America is a story of immigration and cultural fusion. There are Special Needs sections of feisanna for those with disabilities. Classes are relatively inexpensive (as compared to other dance forms) and people of all socioeconomic classes are able to attend. Irish Dancing doesn’t need to be Made Great Again because it’s already great.
(As for those saying this is “great exposure” for the dance world: It’s not).
Or it’s just being professional. As an entertainer you will be requested to perform at many different venues and events. You don’t necessarily have to agree with what is going on, or like the people you are performing for. It’s a job. It’s how you get paid and can afford things like more shows, new costumes, shoes, managers, sports therapists, publicists, etc.
In the end, entertaining is a job. It pays the bills guys.
I would perhaps be more sympathetic to this if Michael Flatley hadn't earned literally millions of dollars from performing already.
