this blog is heavily headcanon based and is merely a big personal interpretation of how i think jerry would act. if i act inaccurate, please let me know so i can improve the way i portray him!! he's already an underrated character just like the other townies, and i have basically just used him as a blank canvas to dump my imagination onto!!!

he's obviously not a sweetheart, and WILL BRAG about his 'intelligence' but he is a lot nicer and more peaceful compared to the other townies. hes a very curious guy who will ask many things and maybe misunderstand a few things sometimes but overall he's just another dude trying his best.

for specifics i headcanon him with autism. also this rp blog is otto x jerry based because i said so , so you will find him fangirling over otto and then denying it. also, jerry is 16 in my headcanons. suggestive jokes are allowed but if you take it too far im not answering u

backstory

his father left the family, divorcing at a young age, because he thought jerry was 'too difficult' to deal with (a.k.a. the father did not want an autistic child.) this left jerry alone as an only child as his older and younger sibling were taken away and went under his father's custody.

jerry was all that his mother had, so they tried to handle the weight together.

his mother took good care of him, very often telling him he was a gifted boy, often spoiling him with words, trying to get him homeschooled and tutored, telling him that he must be smart and have a good life in the future, pushing words down his throat that 'he needs to be a successful and intelligent guy', so that he can independently live with a good income and eventually be able to carry his own family financially, to not end up like her.

as jerry had this vision pushed onto him, with these expectations and these standards held for him. he wasn't wanting to disappoint her and so he tried his best.

his mother started to work long shifts where jerry would be alone at home, so she decided that he should be in a campus. it was a thoughtful and considerate decision really, until she chose bullworth academy of all places for him to attend.

at bullworth, jerry often faced bullying due to his autism and his tendencies to ramble about different things. many kids found him weird and ruled him out as a dorky outcast, probably even weirder than pete or a nerd. jerry was a non-clique and was honestly more geeky than actually nerdy. the nerds found him strange and decided not to let him in their clique. due to this isolation, jerry replaced his frustration with a sense of arrogance and superiority, that he was smarter, because he was more gifted as he was told by his mother all the time. spiked during his time at bullworth where he had no friends to hang out with.

being a loner with nobody to relate to, acting like you were smarter than everyone else was a better survival tactic than to think you are a loser punching bag. it was better than self-deprecation, so he went with exactly that, because it was the only option he felt like he had.

obviously, due to bullworth staff being absolute trash at their job, they didn't help jerry with assignments despite him struggling a lot with it. they didn't even help him with the bullying he suffered either. jerry, frustrated that he didn't get any sort of guidance and was being forced to try even when things felt impossible without help, was obviously pissed. he eventually just gave up and stopped trying to keep up with stuff he wasn't able to do on his own anyway.

due to the staff failing to help him, misunderstanding him, and his difficulties studying, he got overwhelmed and fell behind multiple classes, and eventually he started skipping school out of discouragement. this way, the first fellow dropout he ever met was edgar who decided to talk with him. figuring jerry meant no harm to him and was trying to just go elsewhere, edgar helped him find a group he could to be in where he'd be happy, introducing him to the other clique members (as i mentioned, jerry is one of the last ones to drop out) he immediately found a space he felt like he belonged in. during summer break jerry would spend more time with his grandparents as they came over to stay and support him. though his family is unaware that he even dropped out, especially his mother who doesn't really bother talking to him that much anymore, he is scared to tell them what happened. he had been denied help multiple times, creating this unhealthy habit of his where he'd refuse to speak up and ask for help, scared to seem 'weak' or 'overreacting' and that his problem would just be dismissed again. due to this, he always spends his time alone and go silent if he's upset, rather than actually talk about it. because he is often afraid that his problems aren't valid enough to talk about.

relations

[ his family ]

‧₊ ) starting off very rough, at a young age , his father left.

[] this leading to the father leaving jerry as technically an only child with a single mother.

[] his mother tried to take care of him the best she could, and as support she has her parents in the house with him. this led to jerry establishing a relationship with his grandparents

[] he actually seems to love his grandparents and gets along with them very well, since they have taught him many things, and introduced him to so many interests he picked up hobbies on.

due to his grandmother, he loves music, baking, sewing, and cooking! she loves to share recipes with him and teach him how to do it

and due to his grandfather, he loves music, reading super old action comics his grandpa would show him, and ESPECIALLY THE DC ONES. he FUCKING LOVES DC superhero comics.

‧₊ ) however he does not talk much with his mother anymore since his grandparents are always home and his mom has to work. due to her working all the time and being home only on sundays, he barely sees her even when he is home.

[] this leads to him having a more distanced bond with her over the time as they spent time less. and it upsets him that he doesnt talk with her as much anymore. he loves his mom a lot but she doesnt really seem to bother with him anymore :[

‧₊ ) as for his siblings, he barely recalls memories with them. due to the divorce happening pretty early in his life, he doesn't remember their faces, but he is aware they exist, has asked his mom and has talked about it with her, and he knows their names but not their whereabouts. jerry feels a bit conflicted about it

[] from what his mother told him he understands that he barely ever threw tantrums and that he was a very well-mannered boy, even with his siblings, who constantly fought.

‧₊ ) he does not know who his dad is because he didn't talk about him much with his mother but he does NOT wish to know who it is and would rather forget about him, having a hatred towards him

★ he seems to like him, having feelings but he would rather it not be reciprocated.

☆ despite their opposite personalities, jerry has all the patience for otto and seems to express a particular affection towards him.

★ he has a hand-made plushie of him.. heh.......

☆ he doesn't really stop to consider it might be weird especially if otto doesn't reciprocate his feelings. he just loves to have a cute little trinket of him to express his feelings without words.

★ even though otto can be super loud and constantly angry, he for some reason acts less wrathful around jerry. or at least tries to.

this is kinda because otto knows jerry would be probably uncomfortable if he just expressed his rage in front of him

★ maybe otto has a soft spot for him 👀 you never know..

☆ otherwise, jerry loves to talk about things with otto, and often asks him what kind of things he likes to do in his free time

★ jerry tries to help otto whenever he isn't feeling well, (otto in my hcs has IED) trying to balance him in a way where he will try to channel that intense energy and relax it by projecting it onto something healthy.

★ jerry believes duncan is a very cool person!! he absolutely LOOOOOVES talking about things with him, like his interest for extreme biking.

☆ jerry is absolutely enthusiastic to talk about basically anything with anyone, it's only natural of him to start asking multiple questions when it comes to duncan !

★ jerry admires duncan's talents for biking and (in my hc) drawing

☆ he thinks duncan would make a very good biker or a tattoo artist when he considers a job.

★ jerry gets along with duncan very well due to their shared passion of rambling about duncan's interests and hobbies.

☆ otherwise, jerry overall believes that duncan is a good friend and maybe one of his closer ones .

edgar

☆ jerry admires edgar for who he is, even if edgar feels a bit more closed off as a person.

he wants to ask edgar many, many things about himself, but jerry considers that maybe he might ask too many personal questions and his curiosity might annoy him.

★ he wants to know a lot about edgar, but is a bit shy around him sometimes, even though he is the clique leader.

☆ though edgar isnt the most.. exchanging person, jerry is more than excited to try and help him do more stuff with his free time.

as a whole, jerry admires edgar and looks up to him, not only for his role in the clique but he also just likes how mysterious he feels as a person, and jerry becomes very curious about edgar when he thinks about him.

★ whether or not edgar even likes jerry back as a friend or finds him weird (☹️), is up to your interpretation ! i personally think edgar finds jerry cute (platonically) because of his curiosity and tendency to try and learn about everything he is weirded out about.

gurney

★ gurney and jerry are very good friends! maybe jerry would even consider gurney one of his very close friends, because of their shared interest in music, he loves to ramble on and on about the stuff they really like, and gurney is a pretty good listener to jerry and is usually there to be giving him a hand.

☆ though jerry is a bit confused as to why gurney is so fixated on going out with girls, he decides to shrug it off and not ask about it since its not interesting.

★ he also doesn't mind doing some chaotic shit with gurney, like stealing or vandalizing walls

☆ jerry looks up to gurney almost like an older brother or a father figure he never really had. he loves hanging out with gurney a ton, discussing all sorts of things with him, and gurney is engaging enough to keep jerry up for the conversation !!!

omar

★ jerry finds omar very funny and loves how chaotic he is ! he loves hanging out with him and talking about their shared interest in flash platform games (yes omar likes platform video games now because i said so)

☆ he often comes over to omar's house, or they go to jerry's house, playing video games together. the two have introduced each other to many cool stuff, and because of omar, jerry finds out about newgrounds and cool math games, which become one of his most beloved places on the internet of interest.

★ jerry is very thankful for the awesome hobbies omar introduced him to, and looks up to omar as a very good and close friend, maybe even as an older brother!!

clint

★ jerry finds clint very peculiar and very interesting. he loves hanging out with him, and he too finds him very funny and goofy. he often talks with clint about MANY different things but also, they share an interest for animals.

he also finds it quite silly that clint has named his baseball bat

★ jerry and clint both enjoy video games and clint showed jerry mortal kombat. jerry finds it very fun, but he wouldn't play it alone.

☆ surprisingly, jerry likes to compete with his friends, and enjoys their reactions or commentary as they play. jerry doesn't find fighting games all that interesting like they'd be something that he'd go for in his free time, but jerry definitely would find it a fun activity to do with his friends.

★ he also likes to watch clint compete against omar in fighting games and finds their arguing humorous. lol me too jerry me too

zoe

★ jerry sees zoe as a very cool and outstanding person

though he doesnt talk much with her, he still enjoys the conversations he has with her. even though they have very little in common, he tries!

☆ he often asks about what she does in her free time, and tries to approach the topic curiously.

★ he thinks she is a very cool gal and that 'thank god she's at least not like those annoying preppies who think they are above everyone'. (Jerry fucking resents Pinky i fear).

☆ he loves joining zoe in whatever she does and vandalizing walls and spray painting with her, even though it's usually not a thing he does.

★ however he does talk about his interests, hoping zoe finds his rambling interesting too.

☆ i think she mostly wouldnt, and would probably want to go do better things. sorry jerry but zoe wouldnt a very good listener :(

★ jerry doesn't hang out much with leon, and little is to say about these two

☆ though he thinks leon can be a bit of a funny guy with the stuff he says, he tries to encourage him in his own way, offering some sort of advice

nonetheless, jerry and leon do not hang out as much!! but he believes that leon should be more hopeful of himself and try to accomplish the more important things in life.

‧₊ ) he is one of the younger townies, being 16 and being one of the last ones to drop out.

‧₊ ) so i assigned him a bday depending on his personality depending on his zodiac teeheeeee.. i love doing that. he's a gemini born on may 25th, which is geek pride day!

‧₊ ) he's american, both parents coming from specifically new jersey. i dont know i just thought of this for some reason and i liked the idea.

‧₊ ) he's asthmatic. he doesn't enjoy running a lot. [] also, he's one of the more conflict-adverse townies in the clique.

‧₊ ) he would really love to own a cat but he is allergic to them and constantly sneezes around them. nonetheless, he still enjoys taking care of stray cats, feeding them and petting them.

‧₊ ) he definitely needs glasses and he's near-sighted but he REFUSES to wear glasses 'cuz he doesn't want to look like a nerd. he wants to ask his mother for contact lenses but she thinks he's fine and refuses to buy them. she also thinks they're very expensive.

‧₊ ) he can speak multiple languages, including english, french, and german. he's pretty good at french and wish more people acknowledged how good he is at foreign languages.

‧₊ ) one of his pet peeves is that he really hates it when people talk over him or interrupt him. [] surprisingly he actually really likes it when people ask him questions, because he is easily enthusiastic about talking about his hyperfixations [] he will still get pissed off if you ask him dumb questions tho. he likes people who will engage in conversation

likes & hobbies

‧₊ ) he enjoys a multitude of things, and tries to find interest in anything even if it is new to him! [] he enjoys reading comics , playing all sorts of video games most notably tower defense, platform, turn-based strategy and RPG. he especially really likes old flash games from old platforms like newgrounds (im projecting..) [] he LOVES DC comics [] watched Aqua Teen Hunger Force with clint, leon and omar, and he found it pretty funny [] in his free time watches Eddsworld, The Venture Bros and in secret he watches Carebears, MLP:FiM and also enjoys to watch Lazy Town and Max & Ruby. [] he also likes baking and cooking sometimes. hes not the best at it, but he loves to bake things for his friends. omar says his cookies are really good. [] he tries to enjoy the subjects of school, like science and history and study it, but he doesn't find it all too interesting and mostly just reads about it out of boredom and to expand his knowledge to seem smarter to other people. [] he likes to learn about historical figures though

‧₊ ) he enjoys sewing! he has made plushies of favorite characters, or his friends as a gift, or mostly their favorite characters as gifts.

‧₊ ) he actually listens to a lot of music, and usually he listens to whatever he thinks sounds good. the music he listens happens to fall a lot under southern and progressive rock. bands like lynyrd skynyrd, pink floyd and rolling stones one of these friends my friend rlly likes!! she reminds me of him so consider this a little tribute to her in a way [] he also enjoys 90s eurodance and 90s pop!! [] he was introduced to it by his grandparents and loved it. he showed this music to gurney, who shared an interest in this kind of music. jerry and gurney often hang out together discussing this kind of stuff and also i just find these two so cute father son bonding time frfr

dislikes & bad habits

‧₊ ) he does NOT like romantic stuff. doesn't engage in relationship-related things or seem to feel interested in reading about love or shipping. gonna ignore that one line of him talking about the cheerleaders HE IS LITHROMANTIC AND DEMISEXUAL IN MY MIND!!!! SCREW YOU!! [] if he had to think about himself being in a relationship, he would feel uncomfortable with the thought, but he enjoys the thought of feeling romantic attraction towards someone and loving them. [] he doesn't like that attraction being reciprocated because he thinks things would become very awkward for him if his hypothetical crush liked him back. [] overall he is the townie least interested in relationships.

‧₊ ) while he finds animals and bugs fascinating he'd probably scream if one were to crawl on him. he would NOT like the thought of it crawling on his arm he's touch sensitive

‧₊ ) because he's touch sensitive, he also dislikes being wet. because of that, HE HATES RAIN more than ANYTHING. [] he'll CONSTANTLY check the weather EVERYDAY, checking which days will be rainy, so that he knows when to stay indoors or have an umbrella or wear thicker clothes. [] however he LOVES bubble baths and likes to collect rubber duckies and put them in the water and make an action movie with them. omar dared him to do this as a joke. when he did, the next day, he actually found it fun and he never really told him that he picked up on this as an actual habit [] because of his dislike of being wet he also hates going to the beach, swimming, or going to pools.

‧₊ ) very often he doesn't talk about his own problems, and spends his time alone, pushing people away. if he's severely distressed he will try to isolate himself, becoming awfully quiet.

‧₊ ) he doesn't like specific noises. especially loud, sudden ones. those noises being motorcycles, dogs barking, metals falling or door slams. he hates these ones because they can easily come out of nowhere.

‧₊ ) what he really fucking HATES is when people tell him what to do. not instructing, but bossing him around and commanding him to do things. he WILL argue with you or say something mean if you do this to him.

‧₊ ) he struggled with assignments and keeping up with school, due to this he would think that he was just really smart in a way to cope and believe in himself.

overall behavior

‧₊ ) he isn't hyperfixated on something in particular - he seems to have a collective fondness for many things rather than enjoying one big thing in particular; this leads to the fact that when he is alone he is quite indecisive on what to do in his free time, often excited about the many things he can try. due to this, he isn't good at choosing things for people . if asked to choose something, he'll instead try to explain the benefits of each option and see which one would be best. he's just trying his best guys,

‧₊ ) he wouldn't always be the type of person to research the same topic, but he'd research multiple topics and switch between hours. if he finds one topic particularly interesting enough though he could get carried away spending multiple hours focusing on it.

‧₊ ) WILL infodump whether you like it or not

‧₊ ) absolutely loves people who will engage in a conversation with him. while he is a rambler, he doesn't want a listener, he wants a rambler too! he is a good listener by the way, dont be surprised if he asks 57 questons about your favorite dinosaur.

‧₊ ) he will ask, or say very direct and honest things. sarcasm is not his thing - he's a straightforward person, so whatever he has on his mind, chances are he will say it out loud [] once he knows someone well, he's surprisingly good at picking up when they're upset, but rather than comforting he will show his support through some sort of action, like gifting, trying to share something with you, asking you to share something with him, and maybe even offer a hug!

‧₊ ) if he likes a particular person he WILL ask multiple things about the stuff they're interested in to get to know them better. this way, if he sees something relating to that topic, it will remind him of them, and he can give gifts to them or tell them things about that specific topic so that they can both engage in shared interest.

‧₊ ) because of him being very direct i imagine that he'd overthink other people's thoughts during conversation. thinking about what could be on their mind as they talk, and then trying to ask many things, about their thought process, about what is on their mind.. he is not trying to be pushy or break boundaries, but maybe he doesn't know if he can come across this way, and hopes he isn't looking like he is trying to 'read' someone. he is a very curious guy i feel.

‧₊ ) when he is thinking particularly hard, he may start to fidget while doing so. its been more than a few times that he has out loud started saying his thought process and adding to it along the way. it can sound confusing without context but it can help him express himself a lot easier than trying to keep it in with an inner voice. eventually after thinking he WILL care to polish up his words and then try saying it in a more understandable way

‧₊ ) for some reason he struggles to pronounce 'a' 'o' and 'u' vowels. he can accidentally say 'brekfuhst' or slip in the 'u' by accident into random words like instead of saying 'dweeb' like normally he'd say 'dwUEEEB' if that makes sense LOL. he'd also struggle with words starting with 'tw', like 'twerp' or 'tweet'. he also says 'edgur' instead of 'edgar' and 'thouwts' instead of 'thoughts' (sorta taken from his voice lines.)

‧₊ ) he could take something way too seriously - whether it be an instruction, a joke, or a metaphor. please correct him if this happens or poor guy will be very confused! [] should this happen, he might respond misunderstanding it and at least trying to share a positive response. he's trying his best guys!! [] also struggles to understand sarcasm sometimes [] he might say something like his favorite food out of literally nowhere, lol. he just does that. im projecting

‧₊ ) though he is not exactly intelligent, he can be really knowledgeable and well-informed (sometimes misinformed if not stupid..) on many random things, and try to share those facts with you not (only) to prove he's smarter but he just really loves to share things. it's one of his love languages <:3 [] though his logic is sometimes out of the window as he may sputter out random misinformation that wouldn't make any sense at all, especially if its something he has to come up with. and he will shout it with full confidence btw
