CHILDHOOD & HOGWARTS.

the prewett children were only ever taught one thing growing up  ━━━  that family will always come first. no matter what life throws at you, mr & mrs prewett would say, family will always be there for you. and it’s no secret that this left little molly, fabian & gideon closer than most families you’ll meet. 

little fabian was perhaps the kindest of them all. he was still loud and boisterous and nosy and adventurous, but through it all, he would put everyone else before himself, valuing loyalty and friendship above anything else. it was these traits that ultimately landed him in hufflepuff, away from his twin and eventually his little sister, which for a while he found hard to come to terms with  ━━━  after all, the only friends he had ever known were his siblings  ━━━  but by his second year, he had fit right in. 

fabian had the time of his life in the seven years he spent at hogwarts. he excelled both academically and socially and even played for the hufflepuff quidditch team in his fifth and sixth year as a keeper. everybody loved him, and if they didn’t love him, they’d heard about him, and more often than not they were his academic competition ( he would almost always come out on top ). those who hated him often cited his intense support of muggles and muggleborns, and while usually an incredibly kind and fun-loving boy, he definitely snapped and punched more than one purist who tried to get in his way. 

in his seventh year, his troublesome streak which had landed in him in detention numerous times in the past died down as he set his eyes on his next greatest wish  ━━━  to become an auror. after all, what better way could he protect the ones he loved than as a law enforcer ?  it was the perfect plan.

POST-HOGWARTS.

by the time fabian graduated, he felt like he was on top of the world. he had been immediately accepted into the auror program, he was hunted down within months of leaving to join the ranks of the order and he had numerous friends whom he loved desperately. he was still a child at heart and continued to put others always before himself, but ultimately he was happy, and that was what was important.

as an auror, it came as no surprise that fabian excelled. he flew through the training program straight into a junior position partnered with one of the top aurors the department had to offer and continued to track down and bring in numerous criminals, both big and large. he had only one rule which everyone in the department always respected him for  ━━━  he would never kill.

at the time that fabian turned twenty, he met katarina woods  ━━━  a highly skilled muggleborn working in the department of international magical cooperation at the ministry who had just moved here from norway.

it would be absolutely no exaggeration to say that it was love at first sight. katarina was beautiful, kind and remarkably intelligent and she possessed just the same amount of youthful optimism that fabian himself held. the two fell in love instantly and their relationship moved quickly, eventually leading them to get married at age 24.

at age 26, after having tried for a baby for two years, kat and fabian found out that she was unable to bear children. of course the couple was utterly devastated and kat even tried to beg for fabian to leave her as she knew how desperately he wanted children, but fabian refused, saying that his love for her was far stronger than his need for a biological child  ━━━  and besides, there were plenty of other ways to have children these days.

after a few months of discussing their options, the pair decided to adopt. of course, this process is certainly not as easy as it is made out to be, and with little money between the two of them, it wasn’t until they were late-29 that they signed the papers to take home a little girl of three months old whose mother had died and father had abandoned her. once they had signed the papers, they would be able to take her home the next month  ━━━  and boy were they excited. 

TORTURE/DEATH TW: six days before katarina and fabian were supposed to pick up their little girl, katarina was involved in an incident in which two death eater’s attacked her just outside her office and tortured her. she died two hours later in st mungo’s hospital.

fabian was completely and utterly BROKEN. the love of his life had been snatched away from him, pulled prematurely from this world, and just days before they were supposed to start their family. and worst of all, he hadn’t even been there to protect her. what was the point ?  what was the point of being this big, scary auror when it didn’t even matter, when people still died and families were still ripped apart and the world was still a shit hole filled with pain, war and death ?

from here on out, fabian became a different person. his childlike innocence had been snuffed out and his world had been torn apart. he shut himself off from everyone in his life, including his own family and isolated himself with bottles of firewhiskey that did nothing to dull the pain. he quit his job as an auror, retreated from the order and cancelled the adoption of his little girl, deciding instead to live a life of solitude where no one could reach him  ━━━  after all, if he didn’t love anyone, then how could he lose anyone ? 

he became obsessed with trying to hunt down the people who had murdered his wife. he wanted to find them, and more importantly, he wanted to kill them  ━━━  no longer was the man who believed that death wasn’t the way. this fabian wanted revenge  ━━━  and murder was the only way he was going to get it. 

after months of isolating himself and trying to solve the case on his own, fabian broke out of his shell just that little bit in order to snag up a job as a hit wizard. he wanted these people to suffer. to feel the same pain that he felt when kat had been taken away from him. he wanted to scream and he wanted to kill, and this was the perfect way to do so.

in this time, he also rejoined the order  ━━━  however he quickly became one of their most violent members. while others would save civilians without so much as a scratch on the perpetrator, fabian would leave death eaters for dead, not ever caring how much damage he did so long as he knew that they had suffered.

PRESENT.

having re-inserted himself back into others’ lives, at least in some way, fabian has slipped right back into his habit of putting everyone else before himself. especially when it comes to his family and his once-friends, he never wants to see them suffer the way that he has and would therefore do anything to keep them and their family’s safe. 

this has also extended, however, into incredibly self-destructive behaviour. fabian will always put himself in the line of danger without so much a care in the world, and he’s equally resorted to drinking heavily in seedy bars on his nights off. 

he still doesn’t really communicate with anyone. still lives alone, doesn’t speak to his friends, doesn’t speak to his family  ━━━  he is still so afraid of putting himself out there, because that only means he has so much more to lose.

WANTED CONNECTIONS.

lifeline: we all love a good ~ romance ~. tbh i’d really love to see someone who he was friends with in hogwarts that everyone thought they would end up together but he never had the guts to say anything and like now, they meet again after all these years, after he definitely would’ve shut her out, and she’s determined to bring him back to what he once was and essentially becomes the only person who can calm him and keep him sane.

kat’s old friends: kat was Social Af, so i’d love to see some of her old friends and we can talk abt what their relationship with fab is like now. cos they probs would’ve been close when he was married, so now are they understanding of his pain or mad that he shut himself out, do they blame him for what happened? idk, give me something!!
