“i’m going,” octavia mutters finally, watching how the situation is starting to settle. she’s ALMOST walked out already, without looking back, but she couldn’t bring herself to do it like that. to ABANDON her big brother, her own family and blood that easy. he deserves at least a goodbye. “clarke can take care of… all THIS.” she gestures towards polis, shudders a little inside as the words playing inside her mind over and over again are left unsaid. no one needs me. her gaze doesn’t rise to meet his. 

“take care of yourself.”

—- HIS VOICE RASPS   ‘ you can’t control everything octavia. ‘   he reminds her, ATTEMPTING to be strong in the face of death for her. he doesn’t try to think about every bad thing he’s done, rather the lives he’s saved. but he’s taken SO MANY.   ‘ even as heda. you have a home now. i did my job. ‘

                             →     TENSING   up   beneath   his   touch,   she   realises   that   she   is   both   aching   beneath   his   fingers,   and   enjoying   the   feeling   of   him   releasing   some   of   that   pressure.     dark   bambi   haze   finds   its   place   on   his   face   again.     her   full   lips   parted   slightly:   yet   they   are   still   in   a   pout.     and   she   is   admiring   him   again.     as   she   usually   does.     thinking   back   to   all   of   that   time   ago   when   they   had   first   touched   down   on   earth.     when   he’d   had   a   hand   around   her   neck,   and   her   a   knife   at   his   throat.     oh   how   things   had   changed.     and   the   first   time   they   had   slept   together.     how   he   had   held   her   in   a   way   that   she   had   longed   to   be   held   before,   and   since.     and   now.     they   were   right   here   together.   and   she   felt   so   damn   happy   to   be   here   with   him.     “okay.”     she   breathes   into   the   silence.     though   she   does   wait   for   him   to   move   before   she   does.     the   mornings   always   harder.     her   body   much   more   locked   up.     and   only   recently,   has   she   allowed   for   bellamy   to   help   her   with   her   brace.     something   she   had   never   let   anybody   else   do.     not   even   wick   when   he   had   first   built   it   for   her.     not   embarrassed.     but   not   wanting   anybody   else   to   pay   attention   to   it.     in   a   weird   sort   of   way.

HIS EYES ARE TRAINED on her leg, knowing that it must not be pleasant, but he would do WHATEVER necessary to take care of her. he would take care of everyone, but especially her. she’s his confidant, his partner, his lover. she takes care of them -- made sure they got here and remain ALIVE. trying to help her manage the physical pain is the least he could do. it’s what he wanted to do. perhaps it is in his nature. he tries not to think about the beginning of their relationship. the animosity and conflict. the meaningless sex. and now their sex is anything but meaningless.
