Trying to survive

Beau chuckled softly, his smile warm and genuine. “You know, I think you might be onto something with the sweet and salty thing. I’ve got to admit, I was skeptical at first too, but it’s one of those things you can’t knock till you try, right?” He glanced at the fries and milkshake with a playful curiosity. “Alright, let’s see what all the hype is about. Hand it over—I’ll give it a shot.”

"I think everything should be seen that way, unless of course, it's just something that you know for a fact tastes bad," he pointed out, some things you don't need to try it to know you won't like it. Some things are just naturally bad, or if the dish has an ingredient that you tried before and you know for sure you dislike, "Go ahead."

Emily grinned, leaning against a nearby shelf as she crossed her arms. “Holy water, huh? Well, that’s good to know. I’ll make sure to add a ‘No Priests Allowed’ sign to our hypothetical boat. Just in case.” She shot him a wink.

A small laugh came out of his lips at the mention of the iconic sign, "Probably for the best, we don't want a priest just going around throwing holy water at me," he doubted that would be the case, but he decided to go along.

"Right," Kodi murmured, head bobbing in agreement as he claimed he had only been joking. Another fry went into her own milkshake, swirling around a bit before glancing back at him thoughtfully as he posed a question. "Not much to it, really," Kodi admitted, shoulders lifting. "Just contemplating work later and all that. Nothing exciting. Well - I dunno. I was thinking about maybe starting a podcast, but I'm not sure what vibe I want to go for. Maybe something sort of...paranormal? Attempting to explain the unexplained? You think people would listen?"

Knowing what he knew about humans, because he used to be one himself, he knew for a fact that they were always curious about things they couldn't explain. His tiktok for you page was filled with videos talking about mysterious things, "I can assure you that plenty of people would listen to it, most of them would be humans, but I'm sure at least some people from other species would tune in," he says mostly humans, because the ones that aren't, kind of have some knowledge about the subject and aren't as curious, but he could definitely learn more.

"Fair enough, if you say so," he always took the opportunity to spoil one of his friends, he could not be rich, but he did have enough money to be able to at least buy them some things from time to time, "I'm free as far as I know, why?" he was honestly just planning to lay on the couch and watch a movie, but if she had something else in mind, he would be down.

Nathan sat across from him, an elbow on the table and his head propped up on his hand. Vampires were fucking weird, he thought, raising a brow as he watched Amadeus pop another ice cream coated fry into his mouth. The combination of foods wasn’t weird, it was the fact that he was eating it at all that was weirding him out.

His eyebrow raised as he looked at the fry that was on his hands, it was covered with some ice cream, "Yeah? Then how much would you recommend?" he asked the other, willing to put more of it on the fry, he was always up for trying something that someone recommended. He was far from picky.

The least that he wanted to do was disturb someone that was clearly not in the mood for some company. He saw from a mile away that she wasn't in a good mood and just wanted some peace while she drank her drink, but there was not many stools left, and he just wanted to sit down, "I actually was just going to ask if the seat was taken," he pointed at the stool next to her, "I can stay quiet if you want, I don't need to talk to you," he suggested, he wouldn't want to bother her.

Emily burst out laughing, the sound light and unrestrained as she shook her head. “Oh my gosh, no! I’m not actually buying a boat,” she managed through her laughter. “I was joking. Do you know how many streams I’d have to do just to afford, like, one oar? My bank account would have a meltdown if I even thought about a boat.”

Okay, she got him, he's going to admit that. He should have guessed that she wasn't serious, that was on him, "Damn, I was already getting excited, bummer," he let out a small laugh, he wouldn't say that he was all about the luxurious life, but he wouldn't deny that having a boat seemed fun.

Beau tilted his head as he watched the other person’s expression, a smile tugging at his lips. “Hey, I’m not judging,” he said, holding up his hands in mock surrender. “I mean, dipping fries in ice cream sounds a little... unconventional, sure. But who am I to talk?.” He baked dog treats for fun, but not everyone knew that.

"I would bet on the sweet and salty thing, yes," he let out a small laugh, when he found out about that combination, he was a little spectacle, but he wouldn't turn down the idea before he actually tried it out, "Why not try it out right now?" he questioned, there was plenty of it, he could eat it all, but he wasn't opposite to sharing it.

Okay, that was fair, she had a good point, he should have known better, "Alright, alright, that was my bad, please don't take my best friend status away," he pouted playfully, but he knew she wouldn't actually do that, so he wasn't actually worried, "Say less, I'm gonna go ahead and buy you some, plus anything else you want, as an apology for what I just did."

It took a moment for Grayson to get comfortable, the prosthetic hitting the cushion a certain way causing some discomfort.  After several moments of moving around trying to be discreet he managed to get comfortable.  Just as he was about to reach for the menu, a curiosity came about by witnessing a man dip his fries in ice cream.  Grayson had heard of his practice but never seen it done in person.  Something about the salty and sweetness being a good combination.  “Not judging, just merely fascinated by the combination.”  Grayson commented, wondering if he should be a little adventurous today or go with his usual grilled chicken salad.

That probably meant that he never tried it before, and he couldn't blame him, because it did seem an odd combination, no one ever thinks of trying it, but you never know if you don't try. He tended to try things he never did at least once. Trying new things could be scary, but it couldn't kill to try new food, right? "You should give it a try" he picked up a fry, and offered the other it, so he could give it a go. He didn't mind sharing food.

A boat? A whole-ass boat? He blinked his eyes a few times, his family was never wealthy, so he was not used to someone just being able to buy a boat that easily. He wasn't used to someone just saying they would buy a boat so nonchalantly, "Do you usually just have that kind of money flying around? or?" he let out a small laugh.

Kodi stirred their straw around in the slowly melting milkshake, staring off into the distance. They weren't really thinking about anything in particular, really - their shift at the radio station that afternoon, when the band would be practicing next, the material that they were gathering that would make a kick ass podcast if they ever just sat down and worked on it. But Raven's Peak was proving to be a very interesting venture, and Kodi hadn't even had a minute to stop and really absorb the fact that every other person surrounding them was probably not human.

"I was joking anyway, so its all good," he smiled at the other, he wasn't actually offended by the staring, but he couldn`t help but tease the person about it, it was just what he usually did. He was a playful person by nature, always had been, even with people he didn't know, but of course, he was careful with what he joked about, not every joke should be made with everyone, "Glad to see you are a person of taste," he let out a laugh, as he dipped another fry in the milkshake, "A penny for your thought?" he said, allowing them to vent if they needed, but he wouldn't force anything on anyone.
