We're out here and we're ready...
It's time: May 1st is posting day, and the Fall Out Bang collection has been revealed on AO3! Writers and creators, if you haven't already, today is your day to upload. (If you're posting about your work on Tumblr, too, please tag us so we can reblog! Once everyone's work is posted--pending a deadline extension for a couple folks--a masterpost of all of the works and creations from this year will go up on this blog, so stay tuned for that.)

Somehow it's already time--the posting date is this Friday, May 1st, and the AO3 collection is now open! The collection will remain unrevealed until May 1, but participants are free to upload their fics and creations at any time from now until then.
We're so excited to see what you've been working on. If you have any questions, as always, drop us a line and we'll figure it out!
If you're signed up as a creator (thank you and welcome to our recent sign-ups!!), you should either have a Tumblr DM or a Discord notification with the link to the claims form! If you haven't, or if you have any other questions, please let me know.
Claims close on March 30 at 11:59 CST, and are first come, first served, so check your inboxes!
We currently have only 1/3 as many creator sign-ups as fics! I'm going to wait one more day to close creator sign-ups and send out claims info, and consider this a final signal boost to say if you're interested in creating art, gifs, fanmixes, moodboards, or anything else for this bang, you can sign up here!

Schedule Update
As promised, please note the updated schedule below:
March 7, 2026 - Writers submit fic information for claims.
March 21, 2026 - Creator sign-ups close.
March 21, 2026 - Beta sign-ups close. Writers are informed of potential betas.
March 22, 2026 - Creators receive fic information and submit their claims.
March 30, 2026 - Claims close. Writer-creator pairs are notified.
The info doc has been updated to reflect this as well. After this point (April 1 through the end of the event), the schedule remains unchanged.

After a delay on behalf of your humble mod (sorry!), the form for writers to submit their fic info for claims is here. Reach out with any questions and we can't wait to see what you've been working on! Please stay posted as well for an updated event timeline since I've put us behind schedule.
As of the posting of this form, writer sign-ups are officially closed. However, if you'd still like to be involved, beta and creator sign-ups will remain open for another couple of weeks, and you're more than welcome to join us on the Discord any time to hang out and chat.
Just a quick note to say the form to submit fic claims info will be up in a day or two! Sorry for the delay, it's just good old fashioned life shit.

Meaning, uh, it's time for writer check-in #1! Link to the form is here. This is a low-pressure check-in--please do fill out the form just so we know you're with us, but no need to worry about having a specific word count or anything like that.
Additionally, this is a good time for a reminder that writer sign-ups close at the end of the month! February 28 is the last day to sign up as a writer for this bang, so if you've been thinking about it but haven't done so yet, you can find that form here as well.
We're about three weeks out from the first writer check-in, and about a month and a half away from the close of writer sign-ups! This is a general reminder that if you've been meaning to sign up and haven't yet, now's an awesome time. (But you've still got a while to decide, too!)
Additionally, admin AKA is looking at running some regular word sprints in the Discord. If that's a thing you'd be interested in--or if you're not on Discord and would love to participate in sprints on some other platform--let us know!

question regarding including other bands/artists: can other bands/artists play major roles in addition to FOB members, ala 16c? or do they have to be side characters?
They can play a major role! 16c is a great example, or of course ships with non-FOB folks. But at least one member of FOB should be a main character of the fic.
two quick questions:
are participants required to join the discord or can they just keep contact thru tumblr?
are there any rules against starting to write and/or posting BEFORE the deadline?

Sign-ups will be via a Google form. Some form of contact info will be required, but whether that's discord, tumblr, or email is up to you, and any announcements such as claims, check-ins, etc. will go out on both tumblr and discord. So tl;dr no, you don't have to join the discord, tumblr is totally fine!
You absolutely can start writing whenever--feel free to sign up with a fic you started writing ten years ago if you've got one! But fics should be posted in their entirety on the posting date for this event. I know that's not quite how a lot of modern bangs do it; it's kind of a throwback to the original concept of having all the fic and art/creations hit all at once, which is part of what I love most about bangs.
