It was already well into the night, the clock ticking its way closer to midnight with each passing minute. Cheng Xiaoshi’s earlier attempt to drag Lu Guang to bed had been struck down with the excuse of needing to do the studio's finances.

Whatever that meant, because Cheng Xiaoshi, however, was not an idiot.

That had been Lu Guang’s excuse the other night, too, and even if such things were not Cheng Xiaoshi’s forte, it would never take him nearly this long.

This wasn’t about some so-called ‘finances.’

No, the fact of the matter was, Lu Guang was avoiding sleep. That was the real root of the issue here.

There has been an abnormal shift in Lu Guang’s behavior over the past two weeks. Cheng Xiaoshi had sensed it from the start, an unsettling feeling that continued to grow more distressing with each passing day. This wasn’t Lu Guang’s typical avoidance.
