If you’re coming to my blog about GemCYT: Sub-Zero, first of all thank you guys for the support.

Second of all, it’s a SUBPLOT of an existing au, GemCYT belongs to @chrisrin , go check it out! They primarily focus on the plot with the Life Series and Hermitcraft members, more oriented towards LDshadowlady (Pink Diamond) while mine is more DanTDM (Blue Diamond) oriented. All non DanTDM or Shady Oaks character credits go to them!

Quick warm up, figured some James lore was long overdue (below cut)

Y’all have probably been waiting for this for a while. Mind if a girl becomes a horrifying parasitic mass? (Lore below cut, buckle up it’s a LOT)

FINALLY got around to getting the rest of Shady Oaks’ GemCYT designs out of the way. I left out Captain Sparklez and BigB on purpose because they both already have designs (BigB’s design, Sparklez design) and Sparklez is LITERALLY white Diamond. I should also mention Yammy and Preston are smaller gems in this au because ruby (obviously) and I needed some body variation here. Lore beneath cut.

Almost every fusion involving him says something about him getting hurt in some way (mentions of Dan's big ass gem possibly breaking ribs as Chrysocolla, Paralyzed from using Sea Glass's powers, not too much about Sphene that we know of)

It really sounds like the poor guy can't catch a break unless its his bones. IS HE OKAY?

HES FINE DW! Any harm done to him in fusions sounds worse than it actually is. In truth, he’s actually very hardy, but I wanted to give him at least some realistic physical limitations because hurt/comfort and headcanon potential. I would say I didn’t want him to be as OP as Steven, not being a Diamond and all, but then I remembered Steven had it so much worse physically outside of fusion, his built in healing factor just was a huge safety net. James has actually never broken a bone (shockingly,) it’s just an increased risk with fusion, but even then the larger size and his gem half keeps him intact where most would be severely wounded.

Yeah, I do sometimes! I should probably do that more often, tho, I just hate watching gaming stuff on the TV while drawing or doing smth else because I get too absorbed in the video, but any other time I lose interest just watching it on its own.

Au’s quite dead but yeah sure I’ll answer this one

Dan dealt with his alone. He saved a sacred graveyard that his mother was buried in from a Nether attack after somebody opened a portal, but he nearly died, so the graveyard’s spirits thanked him in the only way they knew how, giving him gargoyle status to save his life. He only turned out half because they usually do that to the dead and he was still alive, and that transformation was brutal and took days. The wings and molting were the worst bit, absolutely agonizing when it’s stone and not skin and you can’t just pull it off in one painless piece.

Been meaning to get this comparison out because unlike Pink/Lizzie, he doesn’t have a normal sized diamond to hide. He’s ridiculously heavy in both forms, and despite being a lot larger when fused with James as Chrysocolla, thus giving the Diamond more space, they have to be careful about extremely hard hits to the chest because said Diamond is VERY capable of breaking ribs. I didn’t give his Blue Diamond form an exact height because I think he’d slightly shift his size in that form to fit in particularly low doorways or subconsciously make himself smaller around White Diamond/Sparklez because a gem’s form is heavily influenced by their self perception, especially around other gems.

Can his gem on his own be lifted by one person? Yes. It’s just, like… 30-ish pounds or around 13 kilograms at LEAST, so it definitely takes work. The smooth surface and VERY sharp edges also makes gripping it hard, so it feels heavier than it is and is a dangerous thing to drop. Overall, Dan avoids getting poofed at all costs not just for exposure reasons, but also for convenience.

And here’s the last 2-gem uncs fusion, Sphene! He’s a 1/4th human pilot and a chatty, yet highly amicable technician and nerd. His body’s also highly conducive to electricity, so he can drive and hijack pretty much anything he touches at the expense of his own energy. Best way I can describe his personality is Rocky from Project Hail Mary. He acts exactly like him.

How he came to be is similar to Lion in canon, except Dan found him already dead and a pile of normal wolf bones. Dan had been given a bottle of Lizzy/Rose’s healing tears/spit by the hermitcraft/life series rebels and was taking it back by foot to the Sub-Zero/Shady Oaks rebel’s temple because the warp pad was under repairs. Keep in mind, Dan wasn’t AS accustomed to the concept of organic death, decay, and preservation as a human would be, so he got distracted by the bones, ambushed by a corrupted Quartz, and accidentally dropped the tears, which seeped into the ground along with his own spit from the fight, reviving the dog into a sort of animate skeleton with the soul making up the rest of the body. Once he took care of the Quartz, a tiny bit of corruption essence mixed into the dirt, which made Grim into a big ass direwolf, and Dan didn’t realize what the hell he just made until it literally followed him back to the temple and scared the shit out of everybody else. Lizzy’s spit/tears reanimated him, but it was diluted, as opposed to Dan’s being direct, which is how Grim ended up not fully alive with flesh and just undead. And blue.

Like Lion, he also has that hammer space in his fur. It would look a lot different, though, probably a blue-ish wisteria tree and some hydrangeas. Dan doesn’t keep near as much stuff in there because he’s worried about losing it, instead letting Justin carry most of it in his Pearl. If anybody keeps stuff in Grims fur, it’s most of the team, though whatever they do keep in there, they secure in a box or something because Grim not being fully alive means stuff falls out a lot easier. If any of them gets poofed, they typically throw anybody but James in there until they get back home. James can’t stay in there because he’d sufffocate. Same no-oxygen rules apply with Grim’s space. The point of entry is just his underside and the thick fur around his head, so if anyone needs something, he just rolls over.

Uncs fusion #5, here’s Abalone! Despite his components, he’s pretty quiet and stoic around most until he’s in a safe spot with Dan and/or James or any other rebels, only then is it apparent he’s a complete sweetheart. He’s harmless to anything but the corrupted and any loyalist gems trying to attack, just has the worst Resting Bitch Face known to man. He’s really similar to canon Opal in terms of calm temper and being nothing yet everything like the gems that make him.
