'I haven't put on weight', I told myself. 'I'm still a size 4', I said.
Because your kids are nice. Everything about them is nice. Mine are monsters. They don’t get it from my side - it’s all their dad.
By 'nice' do you mean, Oddly quiet and never messy? Because the other day I came home to find the boys on the roof with the cat. They were curious if they really do have nine lives. Rory is the nice one, and I'm even sure she's just a ton better at hiding it than the boys..plus she hangs out with Vel all the time. You can't believe it's all innocent. Oh, yeah? So it's all Johnny's fault? I still to this day insist Johnny is a bear..the cuddly hairy kind.

Velouria with her cousin
Cant take my eyes off you: Fance
Chance took Faline’s small hand in is, squeezing gently. “I will. I promise.” His heart was still beating out of his chest as he looked at his bride. She was beautiful. She looked radiant, a literal vision dressed in white. Her features were angelic. Her hair was shining. Warm tears welled in his eyes as he thought about what was going to happen in the next few minutes. Within the next few minutes, Faline was going to be his for always and forever. The sheer thought of being able to wake up next to her every morning, her hair tickling his nose as he held her tightly to his body was enough to drive him insane from happiness. The idea of starting a family with her was all he could ever dream about. He’d found his true family years ago, but now he’d be able to start his own with the woman he loved more than anything in the world. “Teasing me at the alter is so not cool,” he managed to whisper out before the minister began the ceremony.
There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. He could feel the positive and happy vibes exuding from every person lining the alter and every person sitting and watching them. Chance felt like he was in a dream - a dream that he hoped he would never wake up from. He tried not to stand there and stare at Faline, but she was the only thing he could focus on. The script of the ceremony didn’t even reach his ears until he barely heard his name…twice. "Chance," the minister repeated. "Oh. Right. This is my cue. Sorry about that everyone." There was a light hum of laughter from the congregation.
He angled his body to face Faline and held her tiny hands in his. Taking a deep breath, he smiled down at her, taking in her every inch of perfection. His thoughts momentarily left the present and traveled down the windy road of memory to the past. He recalled the first moment that he laid his warm brown eyes on her fluid and delicate body. He recalled the first moment he allowed himself to acknowledge his feelings for her. He recalled the first moment she said yes to being his. He recalled the first moment that they had finally made love. He recalled the first moment he felt his heart break because of her. He recalled the first fight they had. He recalled the first moment that she asked him to be hers. He recalled every first they ever had. It made him more excited for every first that they would have from this moment forward.
"Faline Briar Rose Raine, I vow to never take my eyes off of you because you’re too good to be true. I vow to always catch you if you fall. I vow to never make Bambi jokes for the rest of my life…at least I vow to try not to make them." He paused for the obligatory laughter that came from the congregation. Licking his lips, he returned to his vows. "I vow to always be the Peter to your Wendy. I vow to always tell you how beautiful you are every moment of every second of every day. I vow to keep you safe and to never let anything or anyone, even you, hurt you. I vow to love you until the world stops turning."
Grinning like a love struck fool Faline simply shrugged her slim shoulder; teasing Chance had always been one of her most favorite past time that often turned into full afternoons of tangled bodies and breathy words shared just for two, and now in a room full of people she felt only him. She saw only him, heard only him; The sighs their guest had filled the room with fell around her, flat and nothing. The only thing that mattered even half an ounce were the soft words trailing from his tongue and finding a way directly to her. Each vow meant something more than just words. They meant being nineteen and dancing with strangers, and falling in love with friends. It meant laughing a wet laugh, because she secretly loved the Bambi jokes, for it tied her forever to her sister who stood just behind her as her maid of honor, a real smile pressed to her lips despite that a scowl seemed to look best on the older woman. His words were every dream come true, the silly, and small and everything after. It meant feeling young at heart, and wise at soul, because she had found the one in which her soul resides; Song of Solomon. She thought idly to herself of one of the few verses she had always held near and dear for the sheer accuracy of the words, soul mates were real, and she had found hers in the presence of an awkward struggling college student who loved to sing in public, who danced just to dance. She smiled fondly, loving him was like living in her favorite musical sometimes, but in a strange way it reminded her of her father, who often times she could find humming a tune, and even sweeping her mother around an empty room with the hum of his voice playing the part of an orchestra. She never remembered seeing them so in love, so happy and she knew if she'd ever fall in love it'd be with a man who'd dance with her and sing to her, it didn't hurt that his voice sounded like how honey taste. She squeezed his hand gently her eyes filling with tears remembering how she had become a destructive whirl wind at nineteen with no clue of what was up or down, but she was always sure of him.
As the last vibration of his words hung in the space between them the preacher went on allowing Faline to speak. The willowy woman cleared her throat keeping her eyes unwavering on his. Even as her words froze in her throat, hung from her lips and her face flushed pink she still held onto him. Clearing her throat she shook her head with a smile, "It seems, I've forgotten what I wrote months ago.. see I had these perfect vows all planned, I studied them for weeks and months, and I was pretty happy with how they sounded, and what they meant, but up here now looking at you and knowing in a few more minutes I'll be your wife, it seems I can't even remember the first line, even though I'm pretty sure it's your name. So if you don't mind, love. I'm going to just be very candid right now. " Pausing for a moment she pulled him a bit closer to her lacing their fingers together as she began to spoke. "It's a give in Chance that I vow to love you, that I promise to take this journey with you, no matter what..good, bad, pretty and ugly I'm here. I just want to say that now so you know I'm in this for the long haul. See, I have this thing about fixation, I get something in my head and I can' get it out. The thing becomes all I can fathom in this world. It's pretty scary sometimes, and sometimes I know it makes it hard to be with me, but out of the handful of people who have stuck by me, you've always been right there. No matter what I've done, no matter how bad my fixations have gotten- It's always been you. So, I promise that no matter how fast my mind goes on some days, or weeks that you will always be let in, I vow that I will be the best wife I can be, and even though I can't cook real foods I can bake so I vow we'll always have desserts first and I promise to never take for granted all the quirky and silly things you do..Even if some people think it's lame that you sing in public. I love that about you. I've always loved that about you. I love that you know all the lyrics to can't take my eyes off you, and I love how a few weeks ago you sang it to me in line at the grocery store. See the thing is Chance, I really do believe in true love, and I believe in soul mates and I've seen so many people I love find their soul mate, and it's taken them a few tries sometimes, but I got really lucky. You're my first love, my second love, my twenty third love, my always and last love. So simply my biggest promise to you is I promise that no matter what I may be fixated on at the time, my heart will always be fixed on you." And with the last words Faline bounced up as the preached cleared his throat, pronounced them man and wife and before he could grant the pair permission to kiss Faline already had her slender arms around Chance's neck, her lips kissing his cheek gently before falling to the curve of his lips with a passion she'd never be able to remake.

All the weight I've lost, you've found in your tits.
I mean how is it possible for my boobs to shrink after kids? I don't get it-

Growing up I didn't want to be a Princess, or a ballerina like many of the other girls my age..and when I was finishing my later years of schooling and all the girls my age where pairing off with their "high school" sweet hearts planning futures that revolved with their rightful names changing to "mom" I was thinking of a different sort of name. I wanted to be a journalist, I wanted to uncover the ugly truths and do things that many women never did. I wanted to be the first, I wanted to set trials a blaze and light the way for many young girls like me.
Love was the last thing on my mind, I had other preoccupations. Some people would have even called them obsessions. I seemed to have developed tunnel vision in not only uncovering the story, but living it- so it could be real. The best stories after all are usually true.
Now twenty years later I can say, I've done it. I've wrote for the Times..I've even covered fashion week, and written stories on looming world wars..on the down fall of the American world..I've exposed people who have trusted me, and I have made friends with sharks..I'd never take any of it back..and then at nineteen, and twenty and so forth I never wanted to be Mrs. Somebody, or mom, mom,mom- it was never something I thought I could do.
However, I never thought I'd write at the times either..and here I am, pushing close to my forties, even though my husband ( yes I said it, husband) will smile each year and say "Happy, twenty fifth birthday" our kids are even doing it now. I am Mrs. Fitzgerald McGee, "maman, maman, mommy." And I've got to be everything I've ever wanted to be- and more.

“You’re just too good to be true, can’t take my eyes off of you…I think I sing when I’m nervous. I mean I sing all the time which would technically mean I’m nervous all the time…but I’m not. I don’t know. Do I look okay?” Chance was talking at a mile a minute, not sure how he was able to keep up with his own scattered and excited thoughts. Amory, Donald, and Gabe were all in the suite with him, listening to his nervous chattering and yammering. He knew that she was just a floor above him, putting on the beautiful white lace and satin dress that she worked so hard to keep a secret from him. The mere thought of his fiancee wearing an elaborate wedding dress put the goofiest smile on his face. He never thought he’d see this day come, but all he felt like he had been preparing for this moment his whole life.
He knew that his life would never feel complete until he saw his beautiful Faline walking down the aisle. It would never be complete until she was standing next to him, dressed in white lace as delicate as her own lily white skin. It would never be complete until he was able to introduce her as Faline McGee-Fitzgerald. Everything in his life had been leading up to this moment, from the first instant his soft brown eyes took in her shining emerald hues and radiant red hair. He hadn’t realized it then, but he was a goner in that second. “Dude, you’re going to be fine! You have nothing to worry about. We’re all going to be right there for you!” Gabe said, standing up to help him straighten his bow tie. “Right. Right. You’re right!”
He faced the mirror and smoothed over his hair, Amory and Donald coming into his line of vision on either side of him. “You’re going to be great, son. I’ve never been so proud.” “It sounds really half-assed to just agree, but I think Mr. Fitzgerald has said it all.” Chance smiled, looking at the floor before turning around and facing both men. “Thanks Pops. And thanks Dad.”
"Come on, you’re going to be late. And no McGee-Fitzgerald boy is going to be late to his own wedding!" He took a deep breath, the butterflies rising higher in his stomach and his heart nearly pounding out of his chest. "I really love her, you know?" Flanked by Gabe, his best man, Amory, and Donald and being led by Neruda, they made their way downstairs. The men processed in, Neruda and Aby following. The opening notes of "All Shook Up" filled the venue and everybody immediately rose. This was the moment he’d been waiting for his whole life.
The dress was stunning, he was sure, but all he could focus on was the angelic face of his bride. Happy tears welled in his sparkling brown eyes as Chance tried to not visibly gasp at the sight. The walk up the aisle felt like an eternity that he could have watched forever, but nothing felt as good as having her next to him at the top of the aisle. Leaning over, he whispered in her ear, “You look absolutely stunning.”
One, two, one two. She mouthed the words glancing down at her feet making sure not to fall on her face as she closed the distance between them she mouthed the words, 'I love you' before her brother tucked fiery red behind her ears pressing a chaste kiss to her cheek, "Dad would of been proud." Looking from her to Chance her lead her hand to her soon to be husbands, "Take care of the little dear." He mused aloud smiling up at his sister, "She's all grown up now." He nodded before taking his leave to the seats with their other siblings and their maman who had already begun to dry her wet eyes the moment Faline had stood before her soon to be husband and her always forever.
Flushing Faline squeezed his hand gently before purring back into his ear, "I look better under this." She teased happily before straightening herself up as the minister motioned for the congregation to take their seats. His words and scripture blurred past the girl as she fell into memories much more vivid than the words the man was speaking through, lines that didn't matter as much as the vows she had practiced the night before, and the memories that had inspired those same words. She thought back to the first night, to the him and her and how she was certain she'd never see him again, in her altered state he was passing by and she was a no body. And yet he had been the one to pick her up when death became a real possibility, when her body was frail and her bones jutted out stretching her ivory flesh over joints like jagged mishapen pearls. He was there, he was always there even when physically he had been gone the thoughts of him pushed her through.
Swallowing her memories she bounced up and down on the balls of her feet as the man before them looked to Chance, "The couple today had decided to recite their own vows. Chance- " She looked up at her through her lashes not really too partial to what he'd say because just the idea of hearing him speak, to know that the next words she'd hear would be promises of a life time, well that was enough for her. Mouthing three short words, 'I love you,' she gently pressed the palm of his hand to her lips as she stood connected to him already hanging on the words he hadn't yet said.

Cant take my eyes off you: Fance
Standing in a room of pearl and satin Faline sighed a smile pressed to her lips as her mother tied the last ribbon around her back pressing a small blue box into the palm of her hand. Looking up at her she gave her a questioning look to which to woman simply replied, "Something old." And left her daughter to be alone. Watching the door click closed behind her Faline took a seat in front of the open window, a window below her she could here him singing and it was like they were still in college and fumbling over the truth. Opening the box after a moment longer, her fingers quickly darted across her cheeks to wipe away tears falling faster than she could realize. A letter from her father she had read a hundred times over, the last line had been read a hundred times over and smudged with tears, "And my sweet and only daughter if I shouldn't be able to make it to your wedding day to give you away on your wedding day know you have my blessing because any man my picky girl loves must be a man worth my blessing."
Folding the note up gently she pressed it in between the lace and satin of her dress, twisting the key charm hanging around her neck between her fingers as she spoke, "Papa?" She questioned, "I just want you to know, he is the most amazing man I could of ever hoped for...and I want you to know he will always take care of me." Shaking out her curled locks as a knock came to her door Faline smiled nodding at her sister, kissing her cheek as she walked one foot slowly in front of the other until reaching the end of the hall where her brother stood an arm out for her to take, "You read, little dear?" He beamed down at her as she looked up at him eyes brimming with tears of joy, "I've never been more ready for anything..I love him." And as the words left her lips the melody of all shook up played causing a wet laugh to part her lips as she took one step in front of the other her eyes finding his in an instant as the crowds stood in pillars, taking in sharp breaths of awe, all eyes on her while all she could see was him.
