Hello! I’m Fairmer.

I’m a graphic designer/illustrator from Manitoba! This blog is my place to put the things I make outside of work for fun!

And also to showcase the things I am working on as I update my illustration portfolio because she really needs an update. There’s a reason I don’t have my portfolio site linked right now 😅

I will forever be a fan of many things and enjoy doing art for said things. If you like smosh, musicals, video games, fantasy and specifically the chronicles of Narnia you’ll probably enjoy the stuff I like to make.

My sister and I decided to do a co op campaign with sibling tavs (+ a hireling that is from another co op save with her tiefling back when they were an only child/I hadn’t made the sister yet)

Like “oh i do art for fun so I don’t care about learning how to get better” I genuinely can’t think of another hobby like this.

Like music? You kinda gotta learn the basics of guitar to be able to play it. Maybe you never learn sheet music but you have to learn SOME kind of technique to play guitar so it actually sounds like, you know music.

“I like cooking for fun so I don’t care if I get better at it I have no desire to learn more” With cooking if you actually like, care you’ve gotta at least learn the basic rules of cooking. And maybe you learn enough to cook a good pasta dish, and maybe you also learn enough so you can build your own recipes/cook without recipes for most basic things but you’re satisfied there. You don’t feel the need to learn how to make pasta from scratch. That’s okay!! And isn’t part of the joy of cooking making something that tastes good? And isn’t it nice when you cook something successfully that you struggled with in the past because you’ve learned?

So like with art, it’s okay if you don’t want to work as hard to get to a professional level with you’re art but i dislike the anti learning attitude people seem to have with it. Like, you like this thing!!! Why don’t you want to learn?? Learning is good!!

It wouldn’t bother me as much if that attitude didn’t then also bleed into people being like “yeah I do art for fun so I’m not going to learn how to draw fat people or dark skin or non Eurocentric features” like why is that suddenly something that makes art not fun for you?

You’re free to draw whatever you want I guess but it’s objectively weird to stand on a hill and go “and I will NOT learn to draw black people because I do art for FUN” That’s weird. Not drawing fat people is one thing but proclaiming from the rooftops that you are taking a stand and WONT do it is weird. And people applaud it because “art has no rules!! You do you don’t let anyone tell you to draw what you don’t want to 😍”

I think some of it is that a lot of the people I see with this attitude are young kids posting art to tik tok or etc. and the thing about posting art to places like that especially as a beginner is you’re gonna get a SWATH of unsolicited advice. And that’s not good either.

That and dear wormwood are very rillian coded songs to me. Pale white horse too, in no small part related to the fact that the lady of the green kirtles horse is white.

The vision is for him to be bratty/haughty and insufferable when enchanted to contrast with a more maybe subdued but angsty Prince Charming type when unenchanted. Maybe. There might be better words to describe what I’m going for.

Short hair = young Prince rillian before losing his mom

Long hair = enchanted/free Prince rillian. I’m toying with the idea of him cutting his hair when he’s freed or doing something different but the problem is I REALLY like the long hair both for when he’s enchanted and when he’s free.
