She shook her head and preened one of her wings in an attempt to distract herself from the horrible thoughts rising. It was only another horrible thing he had done to add to the list. So it hadn’t just been in raising her that he had been wretched. It was in creating her as well. She flexed her talons anxiously. Â
Would she be any different had her mother not abandoned her? She had tried all her life to be a kind soul… But that day in the cave had sent all of her efforts crashing down. She was the daughter of a killer. She was raised by a killer. She became a killer. True, she had been defending her friends… But did that completely justify it?
Jordan felt sick. She was thinking too much again. She needed to stop doing that. She had come here to relax with Valerie. But she knew that wouldn’t last forever. Xavier would want her back at the stall eventually. Â
But I can’t… She thought. Not until… Her eyes glazed over as she thought about an idea she had considered earlier. She could go and find her mother. To find out if Archimedes’ story was really true. But she couldn’t leave so suddenly without telling Valerie.
Now or never. She closed her eyes. It seemed like forever until she heard the footsteps of her girlfriend. Â
