follow-up to my first(?*) make a terrible comic day comic from yesterday

i drew this shortly after i drew the terrible comic yesterday because i'm mad like that, but then my friend advised me to spread it out and post today instead.

also there are black bars on the words because... idk, maybe it's funnier if you don't know what deku actually said and because we're on tumblr. i posted an unblacked bar version on my bsky if you are that curious. otherwise, feel free to like........................ ad-libs your deepest, darkest preferences into those black bars, i guess lmao

oh yeah i wrote an anthy fic in preparation for AOU on jun 7th

that i didn't bother telling anyone, as per usual lol.

anyway i recently watched AOU in theatres (today) after trying to catch up three new utena intiates (we only got to 38 though before we had to book it 😭😭😭) and AAAAAAAAAAAAGH <3

i have a bit of a crazy impulse from the high of seeing it in the theatres to maybe go one more time in my utena regalia as i had originally planned today but we'll see

i also had been planning to make some free utenanthy stickers (an update to some ancient ass 20th[?] anniversary stickers i drew so long) to give out to utena-ers at the movie as proof that one was there at the showing but it's gonna have to be after the fact 😂

i'm almost done with what i call my "ochako manifesto" that i may or may not share here but does show up as a second chapter of a fic somewhere also not here. as my brain continues to run wild with that, it also can't help but think about the various ways ochako is going reunite with the himiko inside her and how that will reverberate in the overall narrative.

of note is how this didn't play out as long as i originally envisioned it (in my head; with these comics, i never plan them out like i do with kiaf) nor did certain things i was thinking about and still am thinking about made it in here. but i do like this in the end.

sooeooo i'm a little fixated on this AU of this fic i'm writing instead of the fic's canon LOL

gonna try to canonize as much of this because i'm saving most of the kacchako feelings for another fic. don't worry uraraka, i'll give you a blasty boy in another universe!

OHAYOUGOZAIMASU everyone. Or maybe it's afternoon when you read this, in which I should KONNICHIWA you. Anyway, I've recently been doing a lot of thinking about manga and the state of art as a VIABLE BUSINESS STRATEGY in our current economy and the conclusion I've arrived at is... we all need to go back to our traditional weeb roots. One must not just draw manga traditionally, but do their best in capturing the NIPPON essence. Henceforth, not only have I drawn my latest manga in NIHONGO, I've made sure to draw it from right-to-left (a decision made to, again, match the art form I am building a career off of and not because that's how you read Japanese), I even took the liberty of translating it back into English whilst still maintaining the essence. Take note, aspiring translators. This is how you translate Japanese. None of that localization BS. Only pure, straight feelings for Japanese here. Shoutout to ruxan_kikilin for reminding me what truly matters in comics, especially comics from the land of the samurai. . . . . . . . . . .
