Not my typical fare, but I was outside for 2 1/2 minutes walking a lap around my garden and in that time I picked up an adult lonestar tick. Thankfully I felt it and got it before it was attached, but they're so small they'd be easy to miss. So if you live in a tick-prone area, check yourself thoroughly and regularly. Boy there are plenty of things about LA that I don't miss, traffic, lack of general safety, cost of living....but the scarcity of ticks when I went outside sure was nice because this sucks. Corner of paper in photo to show size, though i guess without the size of the paper it isn't super helpful. oh well, think a speck of fresh-coarsely-ground pepper:
