why vilde being a lesbian would make 110% sense:
ok!!! ok hear me out here. as a lesbian who struggled with a lot of compulsory heterosexuality in high school and college, i see so much of that in vilde. like.
in s1 when the girls are trying to instruct her to think up a fantasy with william in order to get her turned on when she’s all nervous about having sex w/ him, at first she’s like “i don’t get turned on” and then when she lies down and she’s trying to think up this fantasy she only gets around to describing her own appearance, the dress she’s wearing, etc. and says that it’s working and then the girls are like “you’re turned on by dresses and makeup??” and she’s like “yeah” which is…suspicious; either way she’s certainly not getting turned on by thinking about a guy
the way she hyper-focuses on a guy/crush but then when they actually show possible interest in her she talks about how she’d actually be relieved if they didn’t show up or have feelings for her; this is like such classic compulsory heterosexuality; you obssess over a guy “crush” because you want to feel normal/it’s what’s expected but once they actually show interest in you you’re like “uhhhhhhh wait no”
“the feelings that arise don’t necessarily mean you’re a lesbian” vilde sweetheart they certainly don’t mean you’re straight
no seriously it’s literally canon that she doesn’t get turned on thinking about sex with guys and she describes an orgasm as a “sneeze down there” (honey…) but then eva kisses her and she’s actually into it, so much that she literally says “feelings arose” as in it totally turned her on, and then she does it again in later parties too
she was totally jealous of eva kissing p chris in s3e1 and probably a little bit heartbroken i mean seriously the look on her face (also this is my headcanon as to why she starts hyper-focusing on magnus later in the season; she’s pushing those feelings down and away and trying hard to be into dudes)
her obssessing over noora’s “secret girlfriend” in s2 and “there’s nothing wrong with being a lesbian” and “a lesbian couple in … how cozy!” like projecting much ??
also her “i love gays!” text to isak in s3 which was totally fetishy and not cool would mean so much more if she was actually a lesbian over-compensating and being like “yeah i love gay people and i am very outspoken and supportive about how great guys and guys and girls and girls are together etc. etc. etc.! (but of course i’m not gay don’t be ridiculous!!!)” bc that is also something that ppl deep in the closet do sometimes (i know i did)
like seriously she’s always like “it’s totally okay to be gay!! being gay is great!! what do you think about being gay? are you gay? that’d be great if you were gay bc being gay is awesome i love it!! …….. (i’m totally not gay though!)”
idk i just get such lesbian vibes from vilde and i really could see that being such an interesting storyline to explore, although unfortunately i’m not confident we’ll get it because we already had isak’s struggle with internalized homophobia/compuslory heterosexuality and shows generally see that kind of thing as one and done and i have a sinking feeling they’re gonna make a big deal out of vilde/magnus but like………. i can dream.
