Kano subconsciously copies Ayano — when he was younger, it was partially to get closer to her, to have something that they have in common. After her passing, however, he came to realize his actions and tried to prevent himself from copying her.

He starts to wonder why anyone'd risk themselves for something like that. It’s stupid, he thinks.

Alongside their virtues, every person had flaws, and one of Daisuke’s most prominent flaw is his blind goodness. Whereas most people wouldn’t buy Kano’s theatrical regret (artificiality dripped from his sulky face ; he should get a D- for that exaggerated performance), it was Daisuke who felt guilt for lashing out at the boy. Oh, little did he know that Kano was playing him for a sucker.

            ‘Friends –– or anyone, really –– don’t spit in each other’s ears. Now now, don’t make that face. I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings.’

Behind his perfected theatrical display was his signature cheshire grin. He’s fully aware of just how immaculate his so-called “performances” can be, but really, how gullible could a person possibly be? It was simply too funny!

At once, his mask cracks and he visibly erupts into laughter.
