He took our sin-punishment and fully paid it with His blood. His resurrection means we have been discharged from our entire life's sin debt before the Holy God, who is outside time. What's the benefit for us? He cannot judge the same sin twice. ever. Tree • A Developed Seed what is the notion of a nation? is it not simply an idea? an idea accepted by a body of people? It is the division between Singapore and Malaysia with nothing more than an imaginary line between us. an ethereal line that is held true by an entire world. Mr Lee Kuan Yew took that seed of a 'Singapore' idea and nurtured it into a gigantic tree. Under his leadership, he turned this backward nation into a first world one. Leaders form other nations describe Mr Lee as a man of great understanding and clarity — a man of counsel that they sought. They call him a friend of unquestionable integrity. Some even declared a day of national mourning for this man. One went as far as to even call him her mentor. I cannot help but wonder why. it seems many stories goes untold. But who was Mr Lee, really? I cannot help but be cynical when I read the stories released into the Singapore media. is it politically motivated? but even if it is, then why, pray tell me, would so many powerful men & women of other great countries step forward and honour this man? there is much to remember about Mr Lee, but when I do, I will also remember Ozymandias. it is pointless to erect a statue of him or rename our airport after him if we are to become a ruined nation in the coming years. our peers and children should learn from such a man. his character and abilities are testament of a man larger than himself. His selfish ambition was to see Singapore safe, prospering and assured a position on the world stage of the future. I am very inspired by Mr Lee. more than his actions, I am inspired by that man’s heart to care for others beyond himself, his thinking that was guided by an uncommon clarity and his resilience to continue on a difficult path in the face of criticism. His was a powerful mix of incredible characteristics. You cannot learn to be a strong leader like him but have a self-centred heart. Neither can you have the resilience to journey on without the clarity of direction. So much can be learned from this giant of a man and I pray my generation rise up to carry new seeds for reasons larger than themselves. I pray we all learn from such a man.
