Well of course Ken didn’t expect this kind of call. Especially to the fact someone is searching for him for a simple challenge. “Well I’ll accept this challenge of yours. I can book it in my schedule.” He looks through his schedule. “Huh…how about this weekend?” His stomach growled a bit. “I could use a bite to eat about now, I got some things to do before I meet with ya.” 

“Perfect. Thanks, Mr. Masters. I’ll see you then.” 

Douglas hung up and sighed. “So...what now?”

[He’s probably going to have his people run a background check on your name and number, and then get very suspicious when no information comes up since you don’t exist yet.]

“And then we show up to the fight in a starship. That’ll probably tell the story well enough.”

[Exactly, Captain.]

“Oh, absolutely! He’s very trustworthy, though it may take a bit to warm up to him ‘cuz he’s really nothing like Dr. Light at all. It took me a little while, but I eventually did. You’re able to trust him, Splash. Don’t worry.” Roll gave a reassuring smile at the other robot. “I can even come with you if you want me to.”

“Dr. Clash, huh? His name reminds me of someone I heard about quite a while back…Crash Man, I think it was? But I digress.” She looked up at Roll. “I suppose you can if you want to.” Admittedly, it would make her feel better to have someone she knew there with her.

“He’ll do you right, trust me.”

[The body he created for me is certainly well put-together. I can manifest it now if you’d like to see an example of his handiwork, Ms. Splash.]

“Fair enough. Don’t expect me to do any sort of hunting whatsoever. I know that’s not what you want me to do, but I’m just letting you know.” She clacked her metal fingers against the scrap that used to be her trident. “I…did you say that they could challenge this ship?” Damn. Those things must be huge, she thought to herself. “In that case, where will we even get a new weapon for me? I wouldn’t think that many of the scientists who create such things would be…” She glanced over to see if Roll was still connected, of which she was. “…Available for the task.”

“Hey, we’ve got a whole galaxy full of roboticists and weaponsmiths the world over. I’m sure Doc Clash would be happy to help you design something new.” 

King Dedede stood upon the tips of his….toes? No….feet. He snarled, scowling upwards, towards Captain Faclon’s face. 

“Hey!” The former penguin scorned. “Don’tcha know who I am?!” He couldn’t believe this…this was so humiliating.

“It’s me, ya fool! It’s King Dedede!” He gestured to his hat and crown, which was really too big for him, it only just managed to balance upon the top of his circular body. “Are ya gonna jus’ stand there and stare at me or are ya gonna help me?!” He growled, bouncing up and down on the spot like an impatient adolescent.

“If yer not gonna help me ya can jus’ scram!” 

King Dedede attempted fold his stubs, great this body couldn’t even do that right. “It ain’t the cussin’ that’s the problem,” He finally got onto the other male’s shoulder, “it’s you I can’t stand.” He was only being grumpy due to how humiliated he felt in this new body.

The ornery monarch scoffed. “Blusterin? Ya try callin’ to a bunch of goof-offs, muckin’ ‘bout three floors down when ya wanna cup o’ ice tea in the mornin’. They-”  He waved it off.

“Whatta we gonna do anyway? Find an anti-dote or somethin’! I ain’t drinkin’ anythin’ nasty, ya hear?”

He rolled his eyes at that.

“Gee, you certainly are incentivizing me to help you. You want me to get you on the Flyer, maybe see if nano-scanners can piece together whatever is going on with you?”

It’s just another day at the C.E.O. office and taking care of organizing upcoming appointments and offers. Yet, Ken always try to keep up with his training as well. Then his secretary calls him from his speaker phone and presses the button to answer her. “Huh?….Someone wants to talk to me? Well put him on the line.” Ken hears the click and the transfer over to the mysterious caller. “This is Ken speaking.”

“Howdy, Mr. Masters. This is Douglas Akechi. Your hands light on fire, my hands light on fire. That’s enough for me to wanna test my skills against yours. You game? Time and place is up to you.”

[...You’re not seriously expecting him to just agree to that out of the blue.]

“Also, we can hit up this barbecue place I just found in Long Island afterward. The ribs are supposed to be divine.”

“Why on Earth would I want a weapon when dealing with wildlife?” If there was one thing in her life that she would never want to hurt under any circumstances, it was marine wildlife. She had always loved them, especially those along the lines of sharks and whales, and hated to see harm come their way. She had also always had a bit of a charm with aquatic life and had rarely found herself in a situation where defending herself from them was needed. But then again, that was Earth’s wildlife. She had, of course never dealt with that of Big Blue.

“Well, you look like a human, and a lot of them are carnivorous, so...do the math. It’s not like you’re going hunting, it’s just about having some insurance.”

“Trust me, those things could pick a fight with the ship we’re flying in.”
