I was reading this book for a while because I started when I was in a reading slump.

I could’ve DNF’ed the book but I was over half way through it. My brain just thinks I should finish it if I’m at that point. Also, a lot of people said that the book was really good.

I knew going into the book that Signa was going to have some kind of relationship with Death based off the quote on the back of the book, ‘your name is no curse, little bird. I just like the taste of it’. However once I started the book it soon goes on about how he first meets her when she is like 2 months old. Then later saying how he had been waiting eternity for her. So I just thought that he was more like a pedo.

There is another male character Sylas who I did actually like and I wanted Signa to be with him since he seemed better. This is all the way at the end of the book but we find out that Sylas and Death are the same people which annoyed me. I just didn’t like Death.

Anyways Signa in this book is obsessed with trying to be a proper lady in society so she can fit in, whilst handling her being able to see spirits. Her cousin Blythe is dying due to someone poisoning her and honestly once it was revealed who did it, it didn’t make sense to me. Like why choose Blythe, also it was really late when I read about it so I was probably confused because I was very tired.

I really wanted to like this book but Signa just felt like one of those ‘not like other girls’ type characters. Also the writing reminded me of a fanfic. I don’t plan to read the rest of the series.
